Frustration is at an all time high with something that I've never figured out on this forum - search. I just searched using ""'s for the term "Z seat" and it gives me 5500 hits most of them just having "seat" in the thread. Is there somewhere I can look at how the search function is regulated here? This has bothered me several times over the years and just right now I'm motivated enough to finally look into it because the search terms now make it painfully obvious there's something different about search here vs other internet searches.
Thanks!

Thanks for the assist. Nothing came up helpful but I'm still working through the samba search. So your link took me to Google. Does that mean the search on Samba is not worth using, or were you trying to be helpful in showing me how to pull the universe into my search?
I guess I'm trying to understand: Use Samba search, but learn the way it searches (which characters to force a certain phrase be pulled up, etc)? Or Samba search is unable to do specific phrases?
Thanks! _________________ Two fully locked 80 Series LandCruisers. 2013 Subaru Impreza boxer. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V |

The direct Forums search does not support the " marks so searching on "Z seat" will not work. it does not do specific phrases like that.
That would translate into a search on both Z and seat, and Z is a 1-character word so that is not indexed so you get everything with seat in it... exactly what you saw. The direct search only indexes words 3 characters or longer.
The Google search of the site may work better and does support a "Z seat" search.
Google search of entire site off the "Home" drop-down menu
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/search.php
This is the whole site so you will get classified ads, forum entries,, etc. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

"Z seat" is a odd name for the rear seat. People call it a rock and roll bed, z bed and several other names that is part of the reason for your search frustration. Let me know if you need some help or pictures _________________ SyncroFest Schadenfreude!
