We had breadloafs as a kid, I had one for awhile too. But the one that got me was the syncro camper, at the fair...I was 14. I knew...I dreamed I plotted. I bought an 86 syncro westy from and Canadian that couldn't wait for the money transfer. I got phucked, got my money back a week later...3 years later I found my van, he misspelled synchro, all original, garaged from Ar-Kansas. This was in 2004, I had not found SAMBA yet. Drove it to Tacoma on the blue hiways after about 7 miles of terrifying freeway-in a 5500 lb van with 90 hp and the suspension system to match. Since then, Baja, Cali, Org, Wash, and AK.
Love the van

But my winter daily driver is an 85 Rocco now! Outta the blue on craigs. $2K. Original Owner with every single everything and upgrades and maintenance and shizzle. 100K miles. There supposed to be good in snow/ice. We will see...

And I picked up some shoes 4 the van to, 300 bills. Correct load rating, sipes, et. My Vativas were mushy fully loaded. Nokian WRG 2 SUV.
I love C list!

And I love SAMBA.
Phuck it...Im drunk its my Bday!

I was a heavy Scirocco enthusiast before I got into Vanagons... Love it! Yours has European H4 headlights in case you weren't aware.

They are surprisingly easy to get parts for as the A1 chassis was the basis for the Rabbit, Jetta, and Cabriolet. A1 based Rabbits were made in South Africa until just a few years ago under the name "Golf Citi", another reason parts were kept in production.

Only consistent problem with Scirocco's these days are the dashboards are always warped and cracked.

Well done. I had a gtx 2, black with moon roof when I lived in London for a while. Loved it. Really nice road holding. Enjoy.

I had an 86 triple white Scirocco.
When I went to look at it, I fell in love looking through the windows of the garage. The lady finally opened the garage after what seemed like 45 minutes (probably 20 seconds) and I went in to look her over. I looked in and it was immaculate then I noticed the shifter was a bit weird. I looked again and said "It's an automatic?" the lady looked at me all proud of herself and said back, "Yep I waited an extra 3 weeks for an auto transmission"... all I could think was how could anyone buy a sporty car like that with an auto trans.? ARGH... I bought it anyway and loved it. I even made the national news when I got it stuck in my In-Laws ski-slope of a driveway in one of Pittsburgh's big blizzard storms. Local affiliate shot me digging it out and sold it out to the national news. I was really sad when I wrecked it and couldn't afford to fix it.

Its because of the Rocco I got into Vanagons though. I had bugs in the distant past and just sold my 71 bay window when I was having my struts replaced and there was a Vanagon sitting in the lot of the VW garage and I asked about it. 2 hours later and a couple of phone calls I owned my first Vanagon.

That Scirocco is a pretty cool car.
