Keeping in the spirit of "Which way do you sleep" Is one side of the bed more comfy than the other?
My wife seems to think so! I prefer the left side, so does she in this case....sorry Honey not
giving it up! |
It is inevitable that my wife will always like whichever side of the bed I am on better than her own
I prefer the cabinet side as I have a place to pull myself out(grab table leg) and I have a place to keep my beer, phone, water and what not
Anyways, who am I kidding....I never get to sleep on the bottom bunk, the wife and kids always OCCUPY it first _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

Yeah same here. When I camp alone, it's strange to have the whole bottom bunk to myself. Actually it feels weird to have an entire van to myself. _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

First we need to define left and right. Which direction am I facing?
I sleep on the drivers side. I'd call that left. My head to the hatch. I have no idea what the other side is like...it's not my side!
The next question will have to be feather or synthetic pillow! We need to cover all pertinent info!

I agree. I have had ample opportunity to camp solo as well. It is weird, and blissful at the same time

I sleep on the same side, only head to the front of the van. Feels claustrophobic with my head back there.
Pillow? Feather is nice, but I insist on a Tempurpedic Just how I roll. _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

I'm only replying to this because I actually do have a strong preference for the passenger side (head toward front seats). For some reason I feel really cramped on the cabinet side and I like having that little armrest as a sort of a extension to my pillow. _________________ '91 Westfalia GL Automatic (GTA "Turbo" Rebuild w/Peloquin) and 2.3L GoWesty Engine |

First story bed:
*Head at the hatch end so that a) my pillow won't fall on the floor, b) I can look out at the stars before drifting off to slumberland.
*Right side of the bed (aka passenger side) so that my bony elbow doesn't bash into the hard cabinets.
*On top of a foam memory pad.
Second story bed:
*Head at the window end so that when I have to sit up I don't bash my head against the roof.
*Left side of the bed (aka driver's side); camping alone I'd be in the middle.
*On top of a foam memory pad.
Pillow type: Some old, pancaked feather thing.
Bedding: Sleeping bag... type varies by season/weather.
Sleepwear: Varies by season.

No cabinets to favor either side in my tintop. I'll prefer the slider side with family so I can handle anything that comes to the door at night more easily.
My rear mattress sits about an inch below the seat part of the bed. Anyone have a simple recommendation? I'm thinking a foam pad under it as a pretty obvious fix, but?? Ignore?

ME?
She wants to be there, the memory foam topper is there and she does not like to climb up.
It just works out. Sort a like she likes to eat and I cook what she wants.
A happy wife makes happy campling.

I love the solo trips, love the family trips too, but when solo in the winter it is a great experience.
I end up on the slider side when not alone.

When I hear all the mention of the rear cabinet, it just confirms to me why I think a regular passenger van is superior to a Camper for most all uses, especially camping. |
