Very nice. Any interior shots?
I ask because my '66 that was the same color was sold to someone in the valley. |
I dont have any interior pics yet. I bought it a few years ago and it was in poor shape but solid. I went over the whole car and painted it satin vanilla shake with all red interior. |
Okay, thanks. I doubt it was mine, but possible. When I'd sold mine it was in very nice condition with new everything. That was 7 years ago, I'm hopeful that it didn't decline to "poor" in that amount of time. Thanks again for the post. |

I'm sure yours is still running around somewhere. When I bought mine it was L87 with original pigalle seats. The seats and carpet are now red like the original 1300. . _________________ 1966 BEETLE @ 1973 THING |

Looks sweet! I'd bring the back down just a hair, take up the gap between the fender and tire. |

Liking every single 66 in here. Here is my contribution. Got rid of the red on the wheels, widened the rear ones a little and color matched the engine tin and wheels with a fresh orange pearl type color.
The aftermath

My 1st bug that started out as a Baja basketcase. Ended up placing 2nd at classic two years back.
My 2nd bug. Bought it from my buddy Jerry threw some BRMs on it, new seats, did some motor work etc then sold it to koji in Japan!
This is the day she left me to Jpan

I had this exact color combination before. I had to let the last go and really regretted it. I tried to buy this for almost a year and finally got it!! It is 1966 Sea Sand Deluxe Sunroof model with Black interior.

That car looks sweet! I miss my original paint pearl white '66 sunroof, should've kept it. |

My little Ruby Red '66. Picked this one up in CO a couple years ago. It's been a nice weekend hobby. Nothing fancy, just freshening bits up as necessary and driving it around town as often as possible.
Original condition, as found on Craigslist:
Current condition, with repop rack and popouts. Reupholstering the seats but keeping the originals "just in case".

Making slow progress on my 2nd Sea Sand Sunroof car. The hood and left rear fender have been painted on this car but I'm still trying to figure out if the rest of the paint is original or not. I'm not completely sure but the more I work on the paint, the more I'm convinced it's original. I bought the car with 65 down wheels but installed my OG paint 66-67 wheels which have 3 NOS hubcaps and an 1 early heavy guage re-pop cap. I like the 66 with the original style wheels. I'm now on the hunt for some really nice bumpers. I couldn't stand the crusty bumpers the car came with so I just took them off!
Recently put on some very nice german running boards which really helped a lot. tonight I purchased a 66 Saphire III radio. Little by little....
