Thanks. I was joking. I got there a little late and everyone had parked in the regular parking spots.

I had to go out of town last week so not a lot done. The Sandblaster I bought from HF has been less than impressive. I used to have a soda blaster and it rocked but I need something that can etch so I can blast the wheels and the pop outs.
I saw some factory Paint on the nose and thought I would try and expose it. There is very little but the bottom half of the nose does have factory paint so the repair above it is even more puzzling. I touched up the white on the nose at the ridges so it did not look as chopped up.I need to do the very bottom.
Also refurbed the headlights. Someone used cigarette butts to use as the rubber parts on the headlight.

Also got a heads up on a Westy.Went and checked it out this Sunday. Will be picking it up this weekend. Has not been on the road since 1982. Was probably in nice shape when parked. It might can be saved but I will look into that when I get it to the house. It has some serious rust in the A pillars. Most of the interior was tossed in the woods around it.

In between playing with the westy and work, I ordered a can of Spray paint from Paintscratch to touch up the wells and short rocker. Also was thinking about spraying the pass door. After I ordered I read where everyone has been ordering from tower paints. Wished I had read that before. I have had good luck with these guys but this is not a match. It is much too Blue, looks like it is lacking green. I am still going to have some PPG mixed was just hoping to match up to hold me over. It actually photo'd better than it looks.
Going to strip paint on the westy and then back to wheels and interior on this thing. I bought a Bay middle seat I want to convert to a Split looking middle seat.
I really appreciate the condition of this one after messing with the other one.

It's looking great, but isn't this a 66? Why are you using 15" slotted rims?

Philip, there are 2 Sea Blue's....a 1 and 2. I'm not sure which one is for the Bus. Did you get the right one?

Yeah Scott, I saw that after I ordered, but paintscratch only had one option. I will send them an email and see what they can do.

if the nose is just riveted on doesn't it leak? or did they use panel bond in addition to rivets?

It doesn't leak. It is sealed. Still not sure at all why it was done. It looks like original nose from there down and original at the window openings. Almost like it was slit then repaired.

Since it was artic outside this weekend, working on the Westy was out of the question so I decided to spend a little time on my middle seat for the deluxe.

A few weeks back I bought a Bay Middle seat to fill the hole until I can find a proper middle seat. I have a friend holding a correct rear seat so a middle would complete the set, but I do not think I am really going to want to pay the prices of what short middle seats are bringing now.
I was going to just bolt this one up, but when I pulled out the aero mat I noticed the holes did not line up with the mounts in the floor. It matched the bay perfect so I assume the mat is for a 67 and not a 66. This was in a box that the PO bought.
I was going to move the legs to match the 66 mounts but I do not want to cut the mat so I will instead weld the plate where a 67 would mount therefore the Bay will mount.
I am not a fan of the way the arm rest ends on the Bay seat and thought I would attempt a semi replica looking seat for now.
I fabbed up some tubing to match up with what was already there to complete a loop so to speak.
Here is my subject. I find it funny in the middle seat thread where it says "Bay seat kicked to the curb".
Ignore the super messy basement. I am probably going to convert half of it to a garage/workshop.

And new armrest. I know it is not a perfect replica but it completes the look I am after for now and it cost less than dinner for two.

Welds turned out nice.

Will get this one recovered if I can find a close enough match, have a buddy telling me he thinks he has found a Blue that will work.

Thanks
Phillip

Scott,
You were right and I thought it was going to be the other Sea Blue myself. Paintscratch sent me the Sea Blue 2 to try and see how it did. It is nearly dead on and will work until I feel like really doing some body work.
I ran out at the passenger door so it is a little dry there but the nose turned out pretty good.
At least it is mostly one shade of blue now and still mostly Original paint.

Now to fix the windows and seal them up.

Thanks. It is not daily driver status as my commute is about 80 miles a day, but I do drive it every weekend and have about 250 miles on it since I got it. I had a set screw back out of the shift coupler at the tranny, that has been the only snag so far. I found the screw right under the tranny in the driveway and put it back in and drove it home.

I know this is off topic, but I notice you are going with a late model center seat. I've done that in the past too, but do you know if you can use a late model rear seat in a split bus? I wonder what the differences are between early and late rear seats.
