I'm refitting the interior with new carpets in my '69 Ghia, these two bits of board were in the pile of bits from the interior to re-fit. Can anyone tell me where they go please?

They look like the pieces that go behind the rear seat, above the wheel arch, kind of like an extension to the interior rear 1/4 panel.

That would make sense thanks, are they glued in? they don't seem to have any fastenings.

Mine sort of lodge in place and seem to be held in by the shape of the area they fit into. I've never had one come loose on their own, but I have taken them out a couple of times. The bottom one in your photo is for the right side of the car, and the notch is there so the rear defroster tube does not get crushed.

On the cabrio buffer question..
Kudos to Mike (tri356) for getting me in touch with Gary Constantine (brezelwerks) who makes these in small volume. The part is ordered and delivery is expected much sooner than I expect to finish the cabrio top.

Ain't the Samba great!

I found in one of my boxes for my 58 Low another part which I don't understand for what it is good for and to which place it has to go to.
Maybe it was wrong boxed from the pre owner and belongs to another aircooled car ...
Any idea?

Regards, Peter

I'm feeling silly here, but after some cleaning behind the pedal cluster I noticed that tube which enters through the firewall, runs across the floorpan and then seems to exit through the tunnel. What is it?

That little tube runs from the brake master cylinder to the rear brakes. It should run along the tunnel to the rear and exits through a grommet under the rear seat. Once outside it follows the rear fork alongside the gear box to the "T" joint which splits the pressure to both sides.

RHD cars have all this on the right side and LHD cars have it on the other side.

Thanks Nicholas! I had a vague feeling that was brake related.

OK, was going to start cleaning up my dirty engine bay today ('69 coupe), and noticed something in the right rear fender that I've never really noticed before...It looks stock, and it looks like a mounting bracket for something (like the charcoal canister?), but I can't find a reference for it anywhere...and in my manual, the canister (which I no longer have) seems to be typically more up front, near the decklid and in front of the oil bath.

Here's a couple of pics (It sits back behind the oil bath) and it looks like it would interfere with the side panel (If it had one) as it crosses both sides of that ridge line (Please ignore the wires hanging across the field of view):

Anyone know what it's for? Maybe for a really big fire extinguisher? Confused

Thanks,

The answer is in here. It's a bracket for an autostick component. I have one too.

I believe it clips to the rod that goes from the door opener to the actual latch on the edge of the door. It insulates it to keep it from rattling against the inner door.

That makes sense. I thought it snapped over something like that. The next time I have my door panel off I'll replace it...

While replacing the fuel filler hose, I found these nearby. What are they and will they come in handy some day?

Bonus question: Who does this resemble? Smile

I think the top two are bumper tube end gaskets.

I don't recognize the face.

Thank you. I happened to run across another pic of those gaskets somewhere here since that post.

I believe the nostrils are what the door wedge rubber screws into, which makes sense since the wedges are missing on my car.

The bridge, still a mystery but it appears to be broken off of something so probably useless.

The mouth... still don't know... non-critical, but seems worth holding onto. Thx.

The nose bridge looks like the wind shield washer/squirter without the little chrome pice on the top. It's upside down in the pic.

** nope looked harder. Don't know what that is.
