I also modified the column wiper switch and added a momentary push button switch to operate the pump. It went together pretty slick.

I cut another light hole on the passenger side to add another stock light to that side when I put it all back together.

I'm looking for a washer tank about that size. could you let me know what that one came out of?

I'm not sure what it came out of. I think it may be a VW. My Local VW shop/Salvage yard had it. It worked out great. I asked him and he wasn't sure. I think it came in a lot of VW stuff he bought from a guy who had an unfinished project.

Thanks Olmer2. If my EFI parts ever get back from CB Performance I should be about two weeks from running it. Everything else is done except mounting the seats, but I'm waiting on them until I finish the wiring for the IAC valve.

Well I got the EFI system installed and the motor back in. I started it up tonight and it runs great. Still need to tune it and take it down the the tire shop for a 4 wheel alignment but I'm getting close. Got the rest of the interior put in too.

I bought some of the same pinch welt that goes on the pop-out windows and put it along the body seam below the doors. IT really cleans up that edge. I'll bolt a plate on above it when I build the side bars. After I get it tuned in next week, all i have left are the bumpers.

I ran out of money so I put a newly rebuilt 1641 in it that I picked up in a trade. This fall I'll have a 2110 built and swap it out. I went ahead and did the fuel injection now because it was easier to run the fuel lines and harness with the car apart.

I don't know, I hate the thought of her tearing it up. I'm kinda hoping the lack of AC and standard shift will make here look for something else. Might just have to bring home a Toyota right before she turns 16. Maybe another Jeep

I put 15 miles on it today. Runs great for a 1600 I think. I cant wait till Monday and start the EFI tuning but it runs so well right now out of the box, not sure where we'll improve it at.

I got to get some softer shocks. I thought I'd be smart and find some longer stroke shocks for the front and rear. Downloaded the KYB Gas list of all their shocks and found some fronts and rears with about 2" more travel and stock compressed length. Found a great buy on the net and ordered all 4 for less than $150. Then I remembered dampening rate, thought "Oh Crap" and looked up the application. The fronts are for a Ford F150 truck and the rears are for a Bronco. I already had them mounted so I thought I'd try them, but way too stiff for the way I'll drive it. They might do well in the rough stuff, but I am gonna order something softer. I'll make someone a good deal on all 4. They only have 15 miles on them. haha.

I was not sure where to set the rear when I put it back together so I set it at the stock height. I used the short 68 torsions and wasn't sure what they would do to it. Once it kinda settled I needed to raise the passenger side 2.5" and the drivers side 3". With Thing axles and CVs I have plenty of range. I used Dales chart and dialed them in this evening. After a short drive I'm where I want to be but still have a 0.2" difference between the two sides. I'll drive it a month or two and see where it finally settles out. The pan in the back is about 1/4" higher than the pan in the front so it's setting pretty level

I'm gonna pick up a cheap pair of Monroe-mattic Plus shocks for the front tomorrow and put on it until I decide what to do shock wise.

My tri-mil exhaust made it almost impossible to get the heater hoses on the heater boxes without really distorting the hoses. I didn't mind a little crimp but these made it pretty extreme.

I got some 2" muffler pipe and made some short 90° elbows that worked out pretty well. A little high heat silver and you don't even see them.

the hard and tedious work is behind you and you can do fun work now. like reindexing and adding bumper (if you want) while enjoying driving the car around.

i stand and applaud your fine work.

Thanks, I have had a lot of fun with it. I'm like a kid with a go-kart. I forgot how much fun they were to drive. With my truck you don't really drive it, you just ride. This thing you get to drive. I put 200 miles on it so far and no issues. Ill be starting on my bumpers soon and side bars. I've been collecting pictures of ideas I want to use.

Took my 18 yr old son for a drive today. First time he drove a standard. He did alright but still needs a little practice taking off on an incline. Let's just say we tested out the clutch and the transmission mounts.

I have enjoyed posting the progress of the build. I hope that it helps someone with theirs the way others have helped me. I have spent hours searching for answers and appreciate the fact that someone else took the time to post their issues and their solutions

Got some time to work on my bumpers this weekend. I have them just about ready for powder coating.

I welded tabs for lights and skid plates. I also added a hitch receiver to the rear bumper. I doubt I'll ever pull anything but It looks cool.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

For the upper mount I used the two bolts for the rear stabilizer bar. I just didn't have enough room for the firewall mount and never liked the shock mount system. The shock tower is strong but I didn't want to fab up a mount that could take advantage of it and a flattened piece of tubing wasn't appealing. I added some exhaust flanges for easy removal.

I am working on a tube frame to attach to the lower bumper mounts that will tie into the tunnel in front of the transmission mounts. That will take the load off the tab that mounts to the frame horns if I ever do decide to pull a small trailer. I'll also put a skid plate under it to protect the transmission.

Since I took these pictures I have added an extension that extends out under the valves on each side to protect the bottom of the heads & Cylinders. It runs about 13 " long and sticks out 8" and will also have a small skid plate mounted to it. it is basically a short wide u-bend.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

The front also has light and skid plate mounting tabs. I built a bracket to reach around to the rear of the shock towers where I have a long tab welded for the thing front end braces. I did not want to weld another tab to the beam. I already had it powder coated. Worked out nicely
