I bought this... http://www.socalautoparts.com/product_info.php/dis...es-p-16133
...installed it according to directions (including replacing points and condensor with electronic module) and got it started, but it idles super low. Full throttle keeps it idling, soon as I let it off it dies. No matter how I turn the distirbutor, it idles even slower. Could the distributor be on backwards or something?[/img] |

Did it run good before you made the swap? If so, go back and double check everything you just did. Is the unit made in China by any chance? That could be the problem right there. It seems a lot of things from China don't seem to work as advertised. |

x2
got a timing light to check time?
did you read the part i the instruction that it is 30 degrees off from stock.
many brands...
so you must retime the dizzy?\
compufire. they dont say 30 degree, just says close enough if car was timed before. was it?
instruction 15
heed the warnings.... after #15
ok see if all 4 plugs have spark using a test spark plug.
watch out 30kv or more, is no fun getting hit.
if spark was far advanced before, and idle set there.
then you later retard it, or actually set it right first time , it will slow down
after all ,where where you before and now.?

check timing, check for proper spark x4 |

Turns out the problem is the electronic igintion module. Spark only getting to cylinder 3. I put the condenser and points back in and it fired right up.
I drove it around the block...got back to the garage and it died. Im assuming timing is out but I need some fresh air before I mess with it anymore. (sure glad it doesn require smog) |
