here is a pic of the rear end mods we have done. the third brake light is out of a boxter and cut down to size. we shaved the lights for the plates and fabricated a new housing for them to make the decklid smooth. the tail lights are frenched in. this week end we plan on geting the body off and can start detailing the pan. |

The early nose vents are what interests me. |

coad,
thanks, they were a lot of work, and took a lot of time to fabricate, but well worth the effort. by the way, what is the meaning of JHC that a lot of people post after their name?
53 0val,
the front nose vents are not quite the same shape as the early ones, just a shape I came up with.when I get time I will post pictures of how I did it.
Saturday I made the dolly that will support the body when I seperate the body and pan. designed it so can get the lift under it to raise the body to a comfortable height while block sanding. |

I like the tail lights. I was going to do something similar with my Ghia. _________________ Type 1 - '68, '74

we fianly got the body off last night it was alot easier than we expected. we were able to position the lift arms under the wheel wells and lift the body off that way. and when it it is painted we will use good old fasioned man power to set it back on because we dont want to chip the paint. we might have time to post pics of the process later. |

That is a fantastic job on your Ghia. I am getting close to rescuing a Ghia vert from a local boneyard for my son and me to customize. I might "borrow" your 3rd brake light idea and rear license plate light idea. Those are nice. I like the Bug lights, but Porsche flutes are even better. I'll have to tour the local foreign boneyard soon. What color will the Ghia be when you're done? _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

Not only does the Ghia look great, but that's a heck of a garage you've got there - lift & all! Looks like you've got your new/rebuilt longblock in, and everything ready to put back together and go once the body is done...sweet... _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

A couple of readers have private messaged me about how I did the type 1 headlight conversion, so I created an AOL homepage that describes the process and has pictures to show most of the steps. the address is
http://beta.hometown.aol.com/jtower6701/headlight.html
Hope you find it informative |
