Took out all the crappy door panels, gotta put the plastic moisture barriers in then the new door panels. Got an H case that Im converting over to DP for the baja. Has newer Mahle pistons/cylinders in it. Cleaned it up and hit it with some paint.

Its Duplicolor 500 deg. engine paint..cast color. I need to hit it a second time. It doesn't last forever, and don't get any carb cleaner or gas spilled on it.
I did my sandrail motor with the same stuff, hammered black for the tin.

Thanks Mike, some days just can't get much done after work. Painted up the tubes, that's it.

Finally figured out the carb linkage and have it lined up now. Changed out all 3 mounts, the boots, and changed the gear oil.

Got the alt wires sorted out and labeled. Put on the rear wheels and got the engine in. Seems to be running on only 2 cylinders and only the pipe on the right side head gets hot, so I gotta check that.

Great progress so far...
You probably know all the basics on diagnostics so I will not say anything about the carb, valve adjustment, plugs, wires or cracked cap until you post back on what you find out.
Keep us posted.

2 cylinder idle is not uncommon with kads. Does it run on all 4 when the RPMs come up? |

I am having this issue with the pair of Kads. When engine is off and I pull the throttles open I get a nice stream of gas out of both. But at idle on the left side I don't get enough gas shooting out of the accelerator tube. The exhaust is hot on the right side and cold on the left even when the engine is running. I get slight dripping at idle from both accelerator tubes while idling. I disconnect the left carb's linkage and run the engine and the left carb has no effect on additional rpms when i open the throttle, meaning its not contributing to any additional power and wants to fall on itself. I have spark on all 4 corners, but not positive on the problem. While the engine was running at idle, I sprayed carb cleaner in the left carb and opened the throttles and the engine revved up nice and strong with no missing up until the carb cleaner burned off then it was back to popping and missing again. Thanks guys for your help _________________ 1969 Empi Imp #1325
