I like the work. I wish I had seen the spot weld cutter 20 days ago. I would say that was 75% of my work when doing the welding I did. Grinding spot welds is for the birds! I'm gonna order one of them for future work. I like the idea of the TEK screw, but doesn't it cut through the parts? _________________ Anthony

Those mini "hole saw" spot weld cutters suck compared to the end mill style. They look like an end mill with a self-centering tip. They work much better but they are expensive and if the tip breaks off they're junk. You can find them cheap on that big online auction site. Cheap being around $20 each.

I've used that type in the past and wasn't a big fan of them. It could be due to the supplier, but they sucked major butt. _________________ Anthony

Keyword- SPOTLE. I agree, those things are the bomb. They are for use with a dedicated drill motor. However, there is almost no place that we have to drill out spotwelds that the drill fits on VW Buses! I have mine resharpened at a local place. I tried it myself and failed miserably. Get the SPOTLE brand. They are better than the no-name or knock-offs. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Don't think I've tried SPOTLE I've always used the spot weld bits from Wurth. They work great but they're expensive. The photo I posted is just something I pulled off Google images.

Nice work. A not about your photo of the rim, that looks like a crows foot rim (has extra reinforcing ribbing next to lug nut holes) these are very sought after by some and desirable to have. It was worth the extra work to bring them back to life especially if you have all four.
ACHTUNG! IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: IF YOU HAD YOU RIMS POWDER COATED OR PAINTED YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE PAINT ON THE ANGLED SURFACE THAT SEATS AGAINST THE ANGLED SURFACE OF THE LUG NUT - IF IT IS NOT METAL TO METAL YOU LUG NUTS WILL LOOSEN AND YOU MAY LOSE A WHEEL WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING!
A buddy had his rims powder coated and did not do this and lost one of his rear wheels. Good thing it was not on the freeway. |

Some Work....
My Job has prevented me from making as much progress as desired.
CTS next year is the goal now!
Blasting jams and deep rust. Everything is being chemically stripped.
Floors are in!
Seats are recovered (yes I know not correct but I love the mesh gray)
With the floors in I can sit in my bus for the first time!!!!! |

NEED HELP
so, I am getting close to "fixing" the damage in my roof by putting in a sunroof.
Can someone please measure the distance from the front roof reinforcement to the rear one on a sunroof bus?
Please let me know how you measured it (inside to inside etc etc).
Thank you all in advance.

Body is mostly in primer. Mechanicals are getting there. Just need more time with the bus and less time at work.
