Not yet, had to leave the car with them over night. Hope to get it back Thursday. She still has some issues with the carb and distributer. But that's what test drives are for. Could not go faster than 45, engine just stopped reving around 3500 like it had a governer on it then would sputter. I don't think the Dist is advancing like it should. Ill work on that this weekend. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build (Finished)

Exactly what happened to me on my first drive with my 63. Gas flowing out of the carb and flooded. This might be related to your bogging down at speed.
I had to talk sweet to my carb and play with the needle valve a little bit.... and it cleared up on its own. Good luck, stay calm. There's not that much that can go wrong with these things that doesnt have an easy fix.

I may have said this before If I have sorry.
This car was a Heart Project. I mean My heart. I had quadrouple bypass in Oct 2011 and my Doc said to get off the couch and do something. Go get a project. My son said Dad if we can get it I have just the project for you. The rest is history.
BTW we have contacted the Lady I purchased the car from and have given her the link to this thread so she can see How the car turned out. Yall be nice.
I want to get some more history on this car. I have learned the PO purchased it from her Sister in law whom purchased it from a couple that brought it here from Germany. I want to know more about the SHAPE tag that was under the hood.
Oh yea, When I get the small details finished I want to do a photo shot and will post some DONE pictures. Never thought I would get to say the word DONE. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build (Finished)

Thank You but you know they are really Never Done. After I make some more bug money it will be time to drop the front, replace the 009 dist with a 010 and find a trailer to haul with. Sigh...
Oh I about forgot, Finely got a windshield. Even the glass installer broke one, so 4th windshield was the charm. Scrapers mirror etc on. just need to work on the color sanding a little at the time. Im in no hurry. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build (Finished)

Today's lessons. It rained so got it out to check for leaks. Yaaa No leaks but wipers crapped out on me. They acted funny anyway. Got the linkages wrong, corrected it and now works great. Studied the rear end sitting so low. Hum Im almost positive I didn't install the plates correct so Saturday we have a 90% chance of rain so Im going to pull the rear and use a protractor and correct my mistakes. The other thing that is bugging me is the hesitation. Im almost sure the 009 dist is the problem, its not advancing so gotta wait for some extra $$ to fix that. If this is all the bugs I have to fix Im doing good but im sure its not over. Oh yea installed a Solex Needle valve in the carb to correct the crappie who knows where it was made one. Works great so far. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build (Finished)

I have a 010 you could test out at bug blast if you like. Freshly rebuilt. To see if you like it. _________________ '59 typ1 rajay turbo

I may have found one here I can get. Not sure but I will keep this in mind. My wiper motor just fried, i mean is only 54 years old. I didn't think about cleaning it up and re greasing it. Blades stuck and motor smoked before I figured it out. Seems all the original parts I didn't replace are coming back to haunt me. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build (Finished)

Cool deal. Glenns write up makes it pretty easy to clean/rebuild them, one of my more favorite things to do on vws as its a small project.
Wish my 59 was going to make it but work keeps taking up weekends... _________________ '59 typ1 rajay turbo

I was asked by a fellow Samber member to post pictures of my headliner. I did not realize I had miss that so here they are. If any particular areas wanted just message me. Unless I made a mess of it.

Yes, I purchased the DVD from classicvwbugs, made things a lot easier.
Not easy just easier. Purchasing a high quality headliner also helped.
I have some pictures of the process, why I didn't post them I'm not sure. I think I was ready to get done. I can go back and put them up if anyone want to see. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build (Finished)
