alternatives to dynamat

i want to cover my interior with dynamat, but its really expansive. whats a cheaper alternative with the same effects?

Do a search for sound proofing - lots a good threads. I use "Quik Roof" from Home Depot.

hello, You can go to home depot and buy quick roof in the roofing dept or lowes roofing called peel and stick, also buy 1/4 inch carpet pad to put over the roofing material for added deadening. They are both good and have the peel and stick option...they come in 6 or 8"x25' rolls Good luck let us know what you've done and how it works, thanks

Appears to be good stuff. Heavy foil on one side, very sticky on the other side, dense rubber stuff in middle. I put 2 layers inside firewall, 1 layer on package area floor, and some on doors. Think I bought it from CIP1, but can't remember for sure.

I used fat mat. I dont think it is as expensive as dynamat. 50 sq ft for 70 bucks. I think that is reasonable.

Just read up. None of the stuff from Lowe's or Home Depot is sound deadening material. You get what you pay for. If you're OK with roofing flashing then go for it. Some swear there is no difference of don't care due to price. As they say, it's your car, do what you want and can afford.

I did my 75 with dynamat and my 67 with the quick roof from Home depot.

Dynamat is nice, but it's pretty spendy and the car is still louder than a modern car. The quick roof is easier to work with, a little thinner, and as has been stated, not made for this. It did add mass to the panels and worked pretty well. I would not hesitate to use either of them again.

I also used 1/4 carpet pad on top of both of them to give some padding to the floor. I picked that up from a carpet store for next to nothing.

It's well worth the effort, I'm just not convinced that the extra cost of the Dynamat is warranted on these cars.

Quick comment on the Lowes product - The stuff that I had that I didnt like was not foil backed. Looks like they handle something different now. There's 2 threads running right now on this topic by the way - different OPs.

I used the Quick roof stuff from HOme Depot, worked just fine, though after I stuck it into place, I heated it up with a heat gun to make sure it stuck and so far, it's stuck really well..
