try this stuff. I picked it up at Lowe's. 2 rolls should be more than enough to do the whole car if ur doing the floor boards too. if just the doors than 1 roll.

Do a search for sound proofing - lots a good threads. I use "Quik Roof" from Home Depot.

hello, You can go to home depot and buy quick roof in the roofing dept or lowes roofing called peel and stick, also buy 1/4 inch carpet pad to put over the roofing material for added deadening. They are both good and have the peel and stick option...they come in 6 or 8"x25' rolls Good luck let us know what you've done and how it works, thanks

http://secondskinaudio.com/

Appears to be good stuff. Heavy foil on one side, very sticky on the other side, dense rubber stuff in middle. I put 2 layers inside firewall, 1 layer on package area floor, and some on doors. Think I bought it from CIP1, but can't remember for sure.

I used fat mat. I dont think it is as expensive as dynamat. 50 sq ft for 70 bucks. I think that is reasonable.

The stuff at Lowes is considerably thinner than Quik Roof (Home depot) and doesnt bond as well....... Ask me know I know.  [/quote]

Here is what I used. It came from Lowes and is about $16 per roll. It took six rolls. I am planning on adding sound deadening material that is about 1/2" on top of this before carpet goes in

Just read up. None of the stuff from Lowe's or Home Depot is sound deadening material. You get what you pay for. If you're OK with roofing flashing then go for it. Some swear there is no difference of don't care due to price. As they say, it's your car, do what you want and can afford.

I did my 75 with dynamat and my 67 with the quick roof from Home depot.

Dynamat is nice, but it's pretty spendy and the car is still louder than a modern car. The quick roof is easier to work with, a little thinner, and as has been stated, not made for this. It did add mass to the panels and worked pretty well. I would not hesitate to use either of them again.

I also used 1/4 carpet pad on top of both of them to give some padding to the floor. I picked that up from a carpet store for next to nothing.

It's well worth the effort, I'm just not convinced that the extra cost of the Dynamat is warranted on these cars.

Quick comment on the Lowes product - The stuff that I had that I didnt like was not foil backed. Looks like they handle something different now. There's 2 threads running right now on this topic by the way - different OPs.

I used the Quick roof stuff from HOme Depot, worked just fine, though after I stuck it into place, I heated it up with a heat gun to make sure it stuck and so far, it's stuck really well..

But it usually costs about $4.50-sq/ft. I know I can't afford that.

Quick Roof comes in a roll of 6"x25', 45 mils thick, at a price of $16.45 at Home Depot. ( http://www.cofair.com/roof.aspx and http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100594339/...gId=10053)

That means that there are 12.5 sq/ft of 45mil mat in each roll. (1mil = .001in)

So... 25x12=300. 300x6x0.045=81
There are 81 cubic inches in a roll of quick roof.

81/16.45=4.92

Quick Roof value: 4.92 cubic inches of material per dollar.

Fatmat, when bought on ebay in the 50sq/ft 50mil roll, costs $70 (Free shipping).

50sq/ft=(144x50)=7200 square inches. 7200x0.050=360.

There are 360 cubic inches of material in 50sq/ft 50mil roll of FatMat.

360/70=5.14

FatMat value: 5.14 cubic inches of material per dollar.

BOOM. I'm glad I just did that math... I was about to go and buy a bunch of quick roof when I could have bought FatMat (made for the purpose of sound deadening) for a BETTER VALUE THAN QUICK ROOF. I'm gonna buy a 50sq/ft roll of FatMat and if I need more, I'll run down to Home Depot for a lil' Quick Roof.

I realize that this post makes me look like a rep for FatMat... I'm not.

So there. Cool

ummmmmm - to calculate cubic inches per dollar, you would divide the the $$$/cu" Quik roof is 0.20 per cubic inch, Fat Mat is 0.19 per cubic inch. BUT since the thickness is really close, a "per sq ft" would be better
Quik Roof is $1.32 sq/ft, Fat mat is $1.40 sq/ft. Bottom line is that its really close. Nice exercise though. And has anybody actually compared these side by side - would not be surprised if it's not the same thing.
