When I bought my bus, the previous said the previous owner said the bus stopped working due to electrical issues. I have noticed that many of the wires to the engine have been cut.

I am thinking that I should rewire bus to eliminate headaches. The bus is stripped as it is now. I have not found a U.S. source for wiring looms for a 1977 bus. Two large VW parts sellers told me they are not made for a '77.

I just stumbled upon a wiring loom for 1977 bus at Just Kampers in the UK. Does the following loom look like it is all inclusive (ie. lights, dash, etc.)? http://www.justkampers.com/shop/wiring-loom-j16742.html

Also, does anyone have a voucher code that works for Just Kampers?

Thanks,

Tom

Did you end up trying this one? I worry that it is for a righthand drive, being from the UK.

Will this work for a US bus? I'm looking for a wiring harness for my 77 westy and just can't find anything.

The main harness from the fusebox to engine compartment is ambidextrous on a late bus since the fuse box is in the middle of the bus.

Depending on where wires are cut, you may just want to find a 1977 and pull the old loom. Unless yours has been damaged it is only about a days work to go thru a whole bus while it is apart to clean and replace the connectors as needed. Once you do that you'll find everything works fine.
