Well I guess the subject says it all.
1600 DP. Single carb 34 3 pict. Just rebuilt and put on today. Started fine, ran fine and warmed up. Stalled when it got warmed up and I shut it off and I could hear gurgling coming from the carb. I popped off the air filter and the gas was still flowing into carb. Mechanical stock feul pump.

Before I pull it off Any thoughts??

I was thinking cut off valve stuck. How do I check it??

Mike

Probably too heavy or cracked float or sticking float shut off valve in the carb.
Could be too much fuel pressure from the fuel pump, but that should stop pretty quickly after shutting off the engine.

Caen is a town on the north coast of France, but that's irrelevant. Very Happy

As to the OPs question, a cracked float sounds right.
might check out this site, its a great resource: http://www.vw-resource.com/index.html

Not necessarily bad needle and seat....could just be trash in it. First thing I would do is pull it apart and inspect everything and clean it reeeeeally well. Then again....if its apart...a needle and seat cant be expensive to simply replace. I hate doing shit twice.

Have been a lot of reports that the new shut off valves are junk. So best to keep old shut off valve just in case.....
