Brings up the point how will something designed to be in the car survive the heat and elements in the engine compartment. _________________ SyncroFest Schadenfreude!

I have driven Tdi vans with a FBW pedal and it is awful if not done well . Tristar Eric has made a nice adapter which works well and looks slick . The other option I have seen is putting the FBWP behind the stock pedal ,that works nicely as well.
One hidden benefit is that you can goose the engine in the engine compartment which is something you can not do with a FBWP motor .
As usual Ben always has new way to do something . _________________ 89 Syncro Tristar "Swedish"

In the interest of educating the rest of us, can you tell us what we're looking at, Ben, and can you explain the acronyms FBW and FBWP, VWcrewman?
And what is the significance of "something designed to be in the car survive the heat and elements in the engine compartment"?
Thanks a lot. I DO know what TDI is, I think

you are looking at the gas pedal assembly of a drive by wire(no accelerator cable, signal is electric) attached to the firewall and modded.
FBW- fly by wire, another name for drive by wire
FBWP- fly by wire pedal

something deigned for life in a car doesn't necessarily mean that it will survive the heat and elements(water) that motor components are designed for. _________________ SyncroFest Schadenfreude!

Thanks, Syncrodoka!
So what is the thing that's designed to be in the car and is in the engine compartment and might be iffy--some sort of electronic receiver for the signal from the FBWP?

As opposed to a stock engine, Subaru run (externally) very cool.
Second, there is nothing is those sealed gas pedal, just a simple "speed control". The heat is my last concern.
You need to drive one with the DBW pedal in the front to understand, it's very uncomfortable. It was easy (4 speed) to slip the clutch as this one was so sensitive. I also hate the fact that before (explanation later) I had to run a bunch of wire to the front. It's also nice for bleeding and tuning to have the pedal in the back. _________________ I'M MOVING MY SHOP, CHECK MY WEB SITE FOR THE NEW ADDRESS
