I think there are more porsche 914 than vw 411/412 in existence right now (that should give idea of how rare). You will have to be willing to make parts/modify parts etc. If you are not up to this and/or really wanting to own a 411/412 pass on it. Do not think you can flip the car...the market just is not there...it takes years to sell one. But they are great cars.

Running condition is a very wide ranging term. What is the body like and has the suspension and steering been worked on? If not and the body is iffy, $2600 is a high amount to ask. Post pics of it if you have them.

Sorry for the late reply, it's in Shelton and actually looks to be straigh and rust free. It's one of 3 I know in the area. Here's the add: http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/2776198358.html

There are actually 2 in the area for sale.

I wonder if mine are the others you know of? I have three - red wagon, yellow wagon ( just like this one ) and blue fastback. I generally drive them only between Bainbridge and Silverdale.

I have seen the yellow one! I live more towards Kingston and everytime I see a Type 4 running around, I wave. I do see them often enough though to know they're atleast sort of local. So it probably it you I see running around.

I live in Suquamish and sometimes make the loop drive around Kingston, just to give my cars a little exercise, or to test drive when I've just done a little work on them.

From the ad it *looks* nice but you would have to go over it for rust in hidden places and check out the front end. If everything checks out, that isn't a bad price.
