| Thanks! I thought it might be a bit polarizing, what with potential tuner implications. Simple, lightweight, easy to remove, more room for Monster Energy stickers...and maybe my alternator will be happier about sitting in the rain. |

Nice! And different I might add. Different is always good. That's how we advance our hobby. Does kinda look like it may INTRODUCE water to parts of your motor. Does it have any kind of gutter at the front edge? _________________ I got a Volkswagen for my wife....Best trade I ever made! |

Yeah, I bent a lip on the front so that it would help channel water to either side. As it is, water would drain on/in front of the fan shroud. There are already the little spouts on either side to let water drain out of the air intake vents.
It's not watrproof by any means, but it is a lot more water resistant than before. At least I won't have ice building up on the distributor and alternator if I have to drive it to work in a snow/ice storm. I didn't have anything back there before. |

hmmm,
normally I don't like the look of an engine and cage hanging that far back, just looks "off" somehow. It's the biggest thing that's kept me from putting a liquid cooled engine in mine.
But with that wing on there, I know you were laughing, but that actually works.
Hmmm, you have me looking at that 16v scirocco in my driveway, and got me THINKING _________________ Rocco- my build thread

| Yeah, part of the reason I'm laughing is how surprised I am that it 'fits' the bug as well as it does. It really ties the room together. |

I looked and looked at the photos on this post and couldn't find the "wing" everyone was talking about. But I really like the cargo/cooler rack you put on top of your engine cage...sorry, it just comes out of me on occasion. _________________ 92 F-150 4x4 92 KX250 83 IT490 92 LT250 06 Raptor DP1600 Sandrail |

now line it with foam and make a cooler out of it.
like the cage. not much chance of someone getting fingers hurt in there. _________________ 73 Beetle, Ghia front brakes, Type 3 rear brakes, 1776, Solex 34 Pict-3, Bosch SVDA, '97 Mustang seats

As for mounting, these were premature pics with the wing just sitting on the cage. I've since welded o 4 tabs with blind nuts and the wing is held on with 4 M8 1.25 bolts. Still easy to remove but secure, and its the most common sized fastener on the bug SL you can rob one kn a pinch. I'll take some up-to-date pics.
As for the car, its everyone's old friend, the Jerk Bug.

| The exhaust was already fab'd/mounted and I built the wing to clear it. |
