I purchased a tuff tub 65 vw buggy today and it needs work. Its missing a gastank and the wiring looks suspect. This is my first vw and Im wondering if I use a 6 or 12 volt battery. The gas tank filler is on the passenger side back wall but the tank is missing. Wondering if anyone knows where to find a tank like that to use so I can try to get this thing running. Thanks

I'm not a Tuff Tub expert but most buggys were engineered to use a 61 to 67 VW type 1 beetle fuel tank. Relocating the filler neck to the rear was very common, and may be easier to do on a 68 and up standard beetle tank. Also it may be a standard tank mounted backwards, Tuff Tub guys will know.
The 65 VW was 6 volt originally but most buggys were converted to 12. I'd remove a bulb or the coil and see what they are marked.

I had the tank out of one "Tuff Tub" and it looked like a custom made unit.
