And where do you live that the raw metal doesn't rust in your garage? |

If he had it soda blasted, the soda leaves a coating that inhibits rust. You need to wash with vinegar/ water, dry, then spray a sealer before painting. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I live in alabama. it's been quite dry lately. also I have kept it covered with heavy plastic sheeting to keep the moisture off. flash rust sucks. |

hey guys... since this is going to be for the rebuild I will post it here first.
I am looking for the plastic or rubber sleeving used to protect the wiring on the car. I am going to rebuild my harness and I do want to protect it. Does anyone reading this post know where I can get some sleeving all I am finding is the woven perforated stuff for wiring not in the elements.
thanks guys. |

Just thinking, but it might be easier to find large heat shrink tubing. _________________ 1962 Type 1

heat shrink tubing is expensive. and when it shrinks it can be difficult to bend. I work for a cable company and can get some really large heatshrink... looking for a better choice. as a large chaffing preventer the H/S is a good idea. |

threw a little mud, did a lot of sanding...
changed over my turn assys...
cleaned my engine bay.
here is the before of the engine bay.
got it in surfacing primer.
I have blocked it and fixed almost all of the low spots, all that I give a damn about, and have just sprayed the final surface primer. on thursday I will final block to give a tooth to the paint and start adding color... |

What kind of paint did ya use? Single stage or base/clear?! Looks good either way! It's always cool to see fresh paint on a project! |

I used master series paint. Bright red and satin black. A single stage industrial anaerobic paint. |

That's awesome!
Can you tell me about you gun setup? Looks like it sprayed nice. MS is some thick paint and if you thin it more than 10% or so it will fisheye. _________________ 69 Fastback Build

it is thick. I goofed up and tried to spray it with my HVLP gun with a 1.5 tip. that did not work. I went to harbor freight and got a convetional high pressure gun with a 1.8 tip and that worked well. I did thin the paint 10% and had 75 psi at my gun and it sprayed easy. i wasn't able to get the larger compressor I wanted and had to cobble together my air supply.
its an 8 gal harbor freight compressor tied to an 11 and 7 gallon spare air tanks. I added another regulator to the red tank to feed my gun. it worked quite well.
I am very happy with the results. I still have the doors and rear fenders to spray on thursday. while they dry I will start the wiring and insulating. I'm hoping to have the car together for a local show at the end of april called bugapalooza. |

That's awesome man, as a guy who paints cars for a living I can say it turned out pretty nice! My plan on my square is a two tone satin black with lime green accent color, hoping to get her painted this spring! |

I sprayed a ton of MS doing my car; something I wanted to try but never did was to drill out the nozzle to 1.8 or 2.0 on one of those $15 HF guns and ream the back side so the needle would seat. I ended up just always laying it on thick and then after a day or so it would level out and shrink quite bit. But I may try one of those conventional guns whenever I get back in the game... I'm not a big time painter, but just looove the way MS turns out when it cures, it's like a perfect powdercoat.
Anyway, looks really good. I think the first one we've seen topcoated with the AG111 kit from MS. _________________ 69 Fastback Build
