wow i can t believe how bad the empi copy of the ansen slot mag wheel is. they made them completely wrong compared to the real ansen.
the holes are the wrong size, the centers are completely wrong, and they didnt even use a screw on 5 ear cap.

i have more slot mags than anyone ive seen, (all bolt patterns) but
im thinkng i might reconsider selling my 2 extra sets of real ansens.

I completely agree. I am looking to get some ansens, and the moment I saw these I immediately didn't like them.

I don't disagree with the appearance of the wheel, however, I also don't believe it is meant to be an "Ansen copy" nor is it marketed as such.

I have always liked "slots", but the Empi attempt is way off base. I have a set of old 4 lug 15x4.5s. I don't know the manufacture right off hand, but they look identical to the Ansens. Everyone calls slots old school but that that's me. I like them and will run them on my class 11 style '74 that I'm starting soon. 4.5s on front, and 7s or 8.5s on back.

baja72 : You are entitled to your opinion and, again, I don't disagree. But, the wheel is not an Ansen copy, nor is it advertised or marketed as such. I believe the description of the advertised wheel is "Dish". I'm not pro or con, but EMPI bashing has run it's course and I'd rather read/hear people's opinions and experiences based on fact/truth rather than emotion or here-say. Good luck on your project!

If Empi would have dished the face instead of having the raised section in the center, they would have a nice looking wheel. I'm just partial to the dished slots.

Looks more like an old Chaparral than an Ansen.

To me it looks like they copied American Racing's copy of the Ansen wheel. I think are ugly too (the holes are way too big) but they are way better than the empi ones.

chaparrals look good in my opinion, even with the raised center.
the empi wheel is not a chaparral, they would have copied the shape of the rim to make it look authentic. These have the same rim shape as the ansen. Empi just did them in the wrong proportions.

Dont think they are a copy of an Ansen? Well lets see, empi copied
the 5 spoke, the 8 spoke, the sprint star, the BRM, the Fuchs, the 2 litre.
whats the next popular vintage wheel in the line up? the Ansen. it is definitely a copy of the Ansen in my opinion.

I will keep my Ansens, though i will have a set going up for sale soon
is you are interested skabonner. The moment i saw the empi ones i threw up in my mouth a little.

How do the Ansens fit on your Oval John? I always thought that Ansen mags were for dune buggies or Bugs with flared fenders. The EMPI and Flat 4 slotted mags look identical to me. They are definitely flatter than the Ansens so I assume they would fit better under the fender. Spec says 5.5" wheel has 4 1/8" backspace. I think a set of these EMPI wheels would look great on a Thing, but nothing else!

GOOD!!! I love when reproduction parts look like trash. Makes the O.G. ones standout!
