Hey, I resemble that remark!
Just saw this Paul.
We took our first long vacation in the Joker over the 4th of July week to Idaho with the Syncro Safari group. Great fun.
Love the van. _________________ Currently:

Thought about this topic the other day. As I was fixing a few things on the '81 in front of the house I had 2 (TWO!) pairs of women stop and chat me up about the vanagon. Came in and told my wife, she just laughed at me! _________________ '69 Squareback RIP

Passed a car full of college girls and their grandmother the other day. They pulled back up smiling and waving... all except the grandmother. She wouldn't look my direction! I politely smiled back... _________________ 1986 Wolfsburg Weekender |

Living in a college town with a Westy (in the mountains), is highly recommended for shy people. I had a '59 Splittie in 1969 which was mostly full of climbing and camping gear in another college/mountain town, and I'm pleased to learn that the Magnet Effect still works. Beer in the Truckfridge is always a plus, a mountain bike on the back is often noticed as well, but it seems that many women hanging around at altitude are attracted to the Westy. I'm just gonna go with it, much to the chagrin of my grown daughters who often notice the phenomena...its really upsets them when girls there age come up to me/the Westy

[it seems that many women hanging around at altitude are attracted to the Westy]
Very true. I had no idea until I bought one of these things. A couple of winters ago some lady noticed me having lunch in my Westy in the parking lot at Mount Hood Meadows. She came right up to me and asked if I was single and then while ogling the interior of my van she went on to explain how she had a friend who would love to meet me. Meet me or just use me for my Westy...? _________________ Goldie-but-Goodie, 86 AT Westy, 2.5 Subi power |

Did you make your own or are you using the Gowesty version?
I made my own out of an old ski pole. I put a tennis ball on the end for safety. Its not as slick as the Gowesty one but there is no way I am paying 700 bucks for a degirling stick. |

That Westy is like the aunt's Airstream trailer on "Grimm," vastly more spacious on the inside than it appears from the outside. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |
