To quote the Mandarin from Iron Man 3:
Lesson #1...
Easy installation...
There is no such thing.
Nice work! I did a headliner many years ago and decided I would always farm out that work in the future if I had to do it again. I had to do it again so I let a professional do it. I told him it was the "easy install" headliner. When he was done he said something like, "bullsh-t! The original style head liner is much easier." Here's his work in my '67:

I've dipped into my stock pile of VW parts a time or two for this restoration, trading out factory parts for junk replacements that were used on the previous restoration or sometimes just because I have a better part than Larry does. This little car means a lot to Larry and I am trying to get it back to as close to VW stock specs as the budget will allow, just like when he first got it 43 years ago.
I had a '67 washer bottle that still had the original decal on it (notice the serrated edges). I carefully removed the remaining decal, cleaned the bottle and re-applied the decal with an adhesive.
Not a real big deal, but cool to save it none-the-less.

i am also doing a similar resto on a 67. the photos on the panel replacement/repair are really helping me as to how much material to remove and whats behind some areas. thanks for all the great photos!. this forum and the members that support it give new life to cars that normally would have been reserved for professionals to restore and big dollar$ to get it done. |

I love the look of fresh rubber with chrome trim. This is going to be a nice beetle! Reminds me of our old 66, before my brother sprayed it Highland Green metallic. Wish I could go back in time to save it.
Your work is great, and your friendship is amazing!
And by the way, Euro 67 1500s had 4 lug wheels and discs. _________________ 1973 1303S w sunroof Click to view image

Stumbled across this buidl thread and enjoyed seeing it all come together. I love Lotus White on our little cars.
Curious about the drivers side outside mirror. It doesn't look original to the pear-shape 67 mirrors. Is that the owner's preference?
Great looking car dude! _________________ David Ward
