getting back into dune buggies. Been wrenching on vw's for a while and have a pretty good friend in the area who is a big help (major understatement) . He's on this forum all the time, and I've been reading all the amazing builds for years, time to get mine rolling.
just figured I would share this for anyone else trying to do this. All i could find was 1 attempt and it wasn't pretty. I'm sure some might say the same here. Hope some of these pics help if you are attempting the same thing.
Was planning on using my 67 and welding in rear IRS suspension and changed my mind when I found a super at a great price. so, with a frame head lying around figured I would attempt a change over.
missing a picture here, but I just removed the top half of the tunnel, length should be over 12.5" long. I'd cut it 13" and fine trim the rest.
used the Murzi method to square it up before welding it in place. 8' bar across the front and back making sure its all square. works like a charm
Did it this way because I had what I needed laying around, hope its a help to someone, I sure could have used some pics when I started. _________________ PLM.....

8" is an odd amount to chop, I've never heard of a SWB Buggy that requires less than a 12" chop, the more usual being 15" or so.
What's it going under? |

| I think they are stretching a manx clone body to make it a little longer than normal. Kind of halfway between a short and a full length body. |

Nice work thus far Saint! In looking through the photos of you buggy build, I noticed that a yard-sprite graduated from pushing a baby stroller into cutting buggies in half?
And the fence is ready for Murzi to test your chassis - buggy builds just get better all the time!
