Yeah me too!! Hey at least it's a VW power plant and not one of the miserable Chevy 350 hack jobs floating around here in the U.S.! I hate that! Especially when there's so many built VWs that'll smoke a 350 powered Bug. Just doesn't make sense.
I know I have pics of when I pulled my 56 out of a tin shed but of course I can't find them now! I love this thread! |

PO was selling parts from this 1/55 post-less sedan and I purchased the whole body with ribbed doors for $100 in 2012...the PO's wife asked me what I was going to do with it? I told her, "drive it"

This is how it sat when I got it home
Rear end shot with all the parts it came with
I picked up a correct W deck lid from a friend, thanks Rick.
Someone over the years drilled an extra hole for bigger tail lights........they have to go. My snowflake housings cover the extra hole though.
It appears to have had a repair at some point and time.
Picked up the correct doors from another friend in town.
This is probably how the car will sit for a while until I get my son's car going and then the fun will begin. |

I live in Antwerp, Belgium and my beetle was found a few kilometres away in a garage where it stood for about 40 years.
The previous owner placed the oval there and left it in it for all those years.
Via a college at work who knew of it existance I managed to talk to the owner trying to sell it to me.
It all worked out, so where now into the building progress...
The driveway onto the garage had to be cleaned, because trees and grass blocked the way to the garage.
From the road view, you couldn't even see there was a garage...

This reminds me of how I found my '56 donor ragtop car we sacrificed to complete our '57... Brought chainsaws, a come=along and of course a trailer too.. So fun!
And Congrats on the score, she looks undisturbed & nice!

| Our 56'. Came with decklid and rear apron. Surprisingly solid. Good pan and heater channels. Has to wait until I finish the 57' ragtop. |
