84 westy bought not running, wasn't getting power to any of the ignition stuff with the key on (traced all the wires checking for breaks etc. using my bentley manual) cleaned all the grounds and replaced both fuel pump/ power module relays. anyhow now I have power to everything and it will run but only if I put power to the black/white wire on the relay and power to get the pump to run (see the picture and sorry its huge). also when I do this the battery/oil pressure light illuminate on the dash (like there supposed to do with the key on) but they don't illuminate just turning the ignition switch. so what I think im doing is completely bypassing the ignition switch... which leads me to believe its bad? also someone installed a "start" button because im assuming they had ignition switch problems previously. Just wanted some input on this because electronics and wiring (especially this older stuff) im not very good at. thanks

I'd definitely spring for a new ignition switch, you already have doubts about it.
They are a part that wears out and is a common root cause to all your troubles.
With a new switch, if you get the red alt/oil lights at "on", your problem may be over. _________________ Gerald P
