Neggy, first take off only the wiper arms. Then get a little chewing gum and squish it on top of the now-exposed wiper spindle. Now squish on two toothpicks--one for one spindle, one for the other. Place the pick in the generally parked position, that is, with the toothpicks acting like miniature wiper arms/blades.
Turn on the wiper--slow speed. Watch the toothpicks. Are they positioned correctly so as to get a good wipe without pointing toward the hood or cowl? If not, re-position the toothpicks and try again. If you finally position them properly, then remove the gum and toothpicks and position your wiper arms pointing in the same direction.
If this doesn't work, you'll have to remove the motor and re-position the crank arm on the motor. I think I have a picture of the proper position if you need it. But it will take some searching through about 800 pictures; so, hopefully the toothpick trick will work.
By the way, always test with gum and toothpicks after re-building and (thinking the motor is parked correctly) or you can really chew up your paint job on the cowl.
