I can have 165/80/15s shipped site to store to my local Walmart fro $53.00 a piece (Nexen). I've also seen Nankang on the web. Are either of these brands better than the other? I don't need anything expensive...just a stock 73 bug that will be driven about 4 times a week.

Also, is there a big difference in the look of 165/80/15 and 195/65/15? 195s are more expensive.

Thanks

That is difficult. Both tires are cheap and very soft= wont last as long as a better quality tire. Not like both choices are any better than the old Kumho brand, anyhow. You can read reviews of them online, just have to know where to look. The 165/80 series is slightly taller than the 195/65, but keep in mind all tires are NOT the exact same, regardless of aspect ratios. Again, it is not advised to use a wide tire like 195 on a stock rim. If you are not lowered and have good alignment, the Chinese tires should still last a good few years. They do fine on daily vehicles that dont demand performance.

Thanks. Sounds as if these tires will do fine for the price. I'm just going to drive the car to and from work a few times a week once I get all the bugs worked out. Only 24 miles round trip.

I've run Nexen N3000's on my truck since I got it. They stick well (too well?), but didn't last as long as the tread wear rating said they should. One of the fronts separated last year, but I have them stretched a bit out front and they were worn as hell. Just ordered a new set last Saturday. So, either I'm a glutton for punishment, or I think they're a good value for how cheap they are.
