Weird indeed. I think it's cool that Bruce will get to see the finished model in person now; I mailed the base to him for his autograph before it was finished.

I know there are no VW's in this link but the quality of work is unreal. The link was sent to me with no knowledge that they were models. Needless to say, I was blown away.

Absolutely stunning modeling in that link. Also excellent lighting and clever photography.

Here's a Ghia that I ... converted into a convertible. It's a hardtop Hasegawa kit, if I remember correctly. I also incorporated a Porsche 911 interior, wheels, and engine. Sorry about the dusty display. Razz

Here's a Revell Westy from the second re-issue (blue bus on cover, white plastic). They just re-issued this again last year, it's all over Ebay.

This is an idea I'm working on... a Karmann Gipsy, using the above Revell kit and a pickup camper shell, "Open Road"

Wow. Nice job on the cab detail. Isn't that the one with a diecast top and plastic bottom?

It might be easier to cut windows and a sunroof in a panel.

The only modifications were a larger distributor drilled for plug wires and a chrome bus shifter to replace the puny one that comes with it.

And yes, it's right hand drive.

Restoration of a Revell Deal's Wheels Bug Bomb from 1970, drawn and created by late cartoonist Dave Deal. This rare VW model kit was built by a childhood friend, who gave it to me nearly 30 years ago. I disassembled, cleaned and freshened it up, adding Scat decals as a tribute to the "Big Deal" cartoons for Scat in the 1990s. My friend was surprised to see it finished after so many years.
