Hot oil?
Why you ask?
Hoover bit aint gonna help.....

Everyone knows baja bugs dont need oil cooling. They just forgot to ad the 5/8" heater hose leading to the dangling 3 row transmission cooler with all the fins flattened out. Its a work in progress. |
THe worst part is it was in a Bay window.
the seller's just like yeah mate was running when removed.....
It's such a bitsa, one case half is a Bay with the cradle mount the other half is a Beetle without it. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

That's too funny, they put the air filter on the fan outlet instead of inlet. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

technically that's not a turbo but an electric supercharger... nice idea, poor execution.
unless it's just some random stuff put there to enhance the steampunk look of the car. _________________ cars:

Does this "1300" in my 59 bug count? It's a frankenstein, I think every major part came from a different year bug.
How many different wrong things can you spot?
I'm asking because I have no idea |

Actually it looks pretty good just needs the heater hoses and the pre heat hose to the air cleaner, I hear the yellow coil will add 10 hp _________________ 71 Super - Backroad Thrasher

Its a nice balance of yellow between the coil and vacuum plugs on the carb. Yellow plug wires would really set it off nicely.
On a serious note, is the vacuum port on the manifold below the carb plugged? Looks like a hose sticking out with nothing on the end. _________________ and take the kids for instance "Are we going in the Volkswagen bus?" and they say "Yay!" and clap their hands and if it's a glorious day you can slide the sunroof back and let a little of the glory in and all of a sudden, it stops looking funny.

It might be, I have zero clue. This is my first bug (car with a carb for that matter) and I got it like that. Thanks for the heads up about the vacuum port, I'll take a gander or two. I was told the carb was from a 69 or 70 if that helps
So far I replaced the wiring between the generator and 12v regulator with wider gauge wiring. Next up in terms of the engine, I have to relocate that fuel filter sitting in the back for something less blow-uppy. On a good note it runs way better than it looks. Today it started up now problem in 30 degree weather with a shitball battery. Woot! |

Interesting breather/oil filler usage.
I guess it has an electric fuel pump? |
It must. Still, at least with the filler there you can always make sure the distributor drive gear is well lubed! XD _________________ Two Bugs-

I just threw up a little bit. Nice detail work but awful color choice and some things painted that just shouldn't be.. |

So I thought the typical Aussie 70s/80s 12 volt conversion might be the worst of this ones problems,
Then I saw the other side of the shroud.......
