Bumper!... kind of crazy this can be made in China, shipped to Cali, and then shipped to me for 53 bucks...
Fits pretty good. The bumper looks to be pretty decent but the mounts are weak! Any "bump" will push this right into the hood. So tomorrow Im going to go get some 3/16 plate and redo the 1/16 plate with them to give the mounts some better strength. |
Dude I am digging the look! The stance is great and the black wheels are looking good with the white body. I like that front bumper too. I want to get the same thing for my buggy.
Looks like you are ready to get that engine going. Good luck with it. Are you going to be posting updates here or over in the engine forums? I'd like to keep up with your progress. |

Great build, where'd you find the steering wheel? I like the look and it makes mine look really shabby. _________________ If I knew what I was doing; I wouldn't be building a buggy! |

Just now went through this entire build thread. Great work! I see some things that you did that I might replicate on mine. |

So I messed up when I welded on the bump stops... I didn't account for enough bumpstop compression and under hard jouncing (jumping on the bumper) the tires would just start to hit the fenders. I don't want to tear up the FG so without a bunch of fab work I came up with these...
Yep that from a cutting board... and it works perfect, See how they hold up after I start driving it...
And in other news, my SCAT rods will be here Tuesday! _________________ Buggy Build > http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=499786

Can't comment on the bump stops but good use of materials in my opinion.
Going to be following the build over at the engine forum.
The bumper looks good painted.
The stance and overall look is great! |

Still wainting for the machine shop to balance my engine...
In the mean time I have been doing bunch of little stuff, I repacked the front wheel bearings and adjusted all the brakes, pedeal is nice and firm now, and adjusted the e brake, trimmed all the lug bolts down so they dont stick thru the drums as well. I should be good to go when the engine is in.
Oh and this tool is awesome, I almost didnt get it but am glad I did, makes it so easy!
