Some more bracing and they catch the seat bolts.. maybe a little over kill but Im ok with it!, I need to figure out a good way to mount the belt mounts. Just like the seats, I don't want to just weld them directly to the 14 gauge floor.

Gas tanks....
Mine needs clearenced and a new nipple installed because mine rusted out but I guess it needs one installed in a different place due to the angle its at now.
So i need to find a weld in nipple and attempt to patch up the tank....
Any body know of where to get somthing? been searching with out much luck.
Next to mount it I came up with this simple approach using angle iron, any reason not to do this??

No. Just make sure your body will fit and run two pieces to connect them to create a rectangle box so the tank will be supported on the full parameter. _________________ The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Craigslist find!
Made the tank mount, I didn't full box it because the top peice would of had to be coped around the bulkhead, I think this should suffice, the previous owner just had the tank floating in the fiberglass
Yes I know theres no filler, need to order one, 15 dollars insteadof trying to cut out the old one....

Looks great. The only thing you'll have to watch out for is spilling gas. If you spill just a little taking the hose out you will definetly smell it in the cockpit _________________ Brian B

Believe me when I say the smell follows you around once you've been sitting in it for a few miles | pallen wrote: | I guess then I would just have to drive really fast to flush out the smell... |

The "reassembled" cage... I plan on adding in a bar under the dash area and one in the back for the sholder harnesses to bolt to.
Crush sleeves at the cage mounts...

It is a VW I should have never bought. It was already a baja, but in very poor shape and needed everything re-done. I decided to sell at a very discounted price to a diabled friend once complete so he and his wife would have a car and kind of a custom car at the same time, but be cheap to run and dependable.
It has fought me on every aspect. Extensive rust repair, cracked/torn/broken fiberglass, holes in the roof, clutch tube loose in tunnel, rusted out beam, bad new distributer, bad new master cylinder, broken bolts in the spring plate cap/torsion housing, electrical harness a butchered mess, rag tag RGB tranny, pans welded to the body and last night, the genertor turned out being bad.
A good solid weekend I will be done with a complete re-do. New paint, new interior, new engine, all new brakes, new tires on fake conterline rims.
Then I can start on my fg buggy build!!! _________________ The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Heres my first ever attempt working with fiberglass, so I figured I would start on the dash
My backboard wasnt completley tight so the FG sagged a bit, so it took a few more times, I also did the back side...
It has a very light coat of bondo to fill the minor imperfections, I have read about the possibility of shrinkeage with using lots of it. |
