For all you out there driving early models: do you ever miss not having your odometers read tenths of a mile? I'm curious now that most of us have gotten used to that in newer vehicles.
Matter?
Somewhat matters?
Doesn't matter? _________________ -Tim

I wonder how this moved to this forum. I posted it in the early bug forum initially, as it's early-specific. _________________ -Tim

Because its not technical...merely a discussion and inquiry that can apply to more than just the Beetle. _________________ aka Ken

I guess I'm just a bit disappointed it happened because I don't believe this particular forum gets the same high volume of traffic. 10ths of a mile are over rated.
I'd rather have a buzzer that tells me I've left the headlights on after I've shut off the engine. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

When life gives you lemons make lemonade. You'd be surprised how much fun the discussion forums can be. This topic IS in the right place now. _________________ aka Ken

The headlights will go out in a couple hours!
This reminded me of my first factory 12 volt car. A 70 beetle with an annoying door buzzer that went off if you left the keys in the ignition. I never had anything like that on my other VW's.
So one day I decided to disconnect that annoying buzzer. The very same evening I locked the keys in the car.
As for tenths I would like to have them. We do a lot of extream gravity racing and we are always looking for new hills to run. It helps to know how long the hills are and not having tenths makes for some bad guesses. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

It happens to me every time I park and don't pull the key out of the ignition right away. Of I don't, I forget. I got tired of breaking in. _________________ -Tim

No kidding...^ Currently it takes .03 to make a penny, and .11 to make a nickle.... Bad economy yeah right....... STUPID.
It wont keep me from picking up every one I find though...
The weight in copper pennies is worth more than the amount, but its illegal to melt down currrecy..... _________________ aka Ken

The downside to doing away with cents is that everything will be rounded up, meaning having to spend between one and four extra cents for every single transaction. It does add up. I don't know if the savings on the government end of things by ending manufacture would make that worthwhile. Perhaps changing metals again would be a better solution. _________________ -Tim
