Google told me the same thing. That's unbelievable. Looks like I know what type of van I'll be looking for in a couple years. A 1.5 mpg hit for the high roof, but it's still incredible considering what other vehicles in the class get. I just hope Fiat/Chrysler won't dumb it down by shoving a 'hemi' in it.

Those are imperial gallons, which is slightly larger than U.S. gallons (another reason the metric system isn't all that bad). In U.S. gallons it gets a combined 32.6 mpg, still pretty respectable. Diesel of course.

Fiat has come a long way since the 80's when they last sold cars here. All manufacturers have. Ford's unofficial slogan back then was "Fixed or repaired daily" or "Found on road dead". It was a little harder coming up with something for Chevrolet and Chrysler I guess, I haven't heard one for them.

I heard that FORD stood for "First On Race Day" and Chevrolet stood for "Can Hear Entire Vehicle Rusting On Long Evening Trips"

I literally just happen to read this topic earlier then go to another topic and see this:

http://www.westfalia-mobil.net/modelle/columbus/columbus.php

Looks like Westfalia's doing a Fiat conversion already and it's called the "Columbus." Here's the brochure (Real picture heavy!)

Initial cost on a Sprinter is higher than I am looking.

Just sold my truck and paid off my work van yesterday. No more car payment!

I'm thinking about getting an HHR Panel as a service vehicle seeing as it would easily get twice the gas mileage as my van does. I've found them for about 9k in good shape. Would keep some wear and tear off my van as well. Everything is expensive to fix/replace on a one-ton.....

That van looks like some sort of nasty caterpiller/slug you might find raiding your vegetable garden.

Laughing

That thing doesn't look even remotely like the Volkswagen Westfalias of yesteryear. If anything is the Vanagon Westfalia replacement, it is this:

You Vanagon folks make note of the sink/stove area. Wink

That is a sweet Dart. I rolled a 65 2 door hardtop with the 270 trim package for 20 years. It and the 71 Devon I had were the only 2 cars I really regret selling.Get a hold of me when you think you wanna sell your dart.... so I can talk you out of it. Not to hijack the thread. That Fiat is Ugly. Razz Razz Razz Very Happy

Yes, I'll just walk across the several feet of ice mantling the infernal regions and give you a buzz.

Very Happy

Ain't gonna happen. Big Dodge is one of the oldest members of my family, and more affectionate than nearly all of it to me. But she and I appreciate the kind words and praise. No, Darts can't be replaced--even though they're about to make a new Dart!

Winston's kind of grown on me, too...

Until they offer it with a diesel, I won't even consider one.

Those FIATS are all over the place in Europe.
I drove one from Berlin to Pisa, Italy a couple times.
Drove like a dream, even on the A-Bahn.
Main competition is the Benz model, which is also very nice.

People think they're ugly here for the same reason they think Dodge trucks look cool, or Suburbans, etc..

...the rest of the World just doesn't get it, and vice versa.

I bet that we come around to the styling and expectations of the rest of the civilized World before they come around to ours.

I guess I have to pipe in... I have a NV2500 that is replacing my Vanagon (and F350). While I am a diesel lover I would not buy any newer diesel in the US due to the emission "fixes" ( I tow big trucks part time and make a lot of money on the new emission upgrades). They are big (bigger than a Sprinter) with plenty of power and very comfortable. I also have a Transit which is great but not as comfortable and definitely smaller.

If Ford brings the European full size transit into this country it would be great but I would still get a NV as I do not think they will tow as much, like the Sprinter (NV with factory tow package is rated at 9K).

Oh and I would buy the Fiat if it came here except for the Chrysler factor. Yes I like odd vehicles.

You are none--I am just not selling the Dart. Big Dodge is family. Your kind words about her are appreciated.
