| I had previously checked all the grounds on the engine of my 71 411 but, today I found that the three on the top of the engine loosened and had fallen off. This solved the problem i had with getting the car running. I am glad i did not waste my money on carbs. |

Those three grounds will cause the largest amount of problems short of an old wiring harness. I found in dealer terminal box years back...female terminals with factory style crimps that have a locking tab that snaps into the hole in the center of the male prong. It cannot ever fall off. It can work loose and that also can cause some intermittent issues...but it can never co me loose. It actually has a little lever in the center that you press that allows the female terminal to come loose. They are also ideal for coil connectors.

| The sad part is that this has been the main problem with almost every car I have worked on. |

Best to stay away from 80's and newer cars if you want to maintain your ride yourself!

I've seen those in a store recently, and it caught my attention because I've had connectors come loose on my car before. A few nights ago I was going for a ride with my son, and the right headlight went out and came back on. We stopped at a gas station and I pulled back the trunk carpet and found the terminal had come almost completely off! Easy fix, but it shouldn't happen in the first place. On my daily driver, the connectors have double waterproof seals, a locking tab, and the locking tab has a slide lock on top of it all.
