Ive started to going through my Westie as it is starting to heat up so I was in the back and pulled out the rear seat and under seat box and noticed that the floor was a bit damp and I couldnt find any thing obvious so I started her up and let the motor warm up and had a closer look at the rear heater and wiggled the top hose and got a squirt of coolant from between the coolant shut off and the inlet of the core. Rolling Eyes
So i eventually pulled it apart and the O ring was flat and on the way out so I replaced it and the problem went away!! Very Happy
Not happy about the plastic fittings back there! Confused

Same here when I pulled the bench seat out to soundproof the floor. O-ring was flat as a pancake.

These vans are long on the tooth. 25 years is a reasonable lifespan for a rubber o-ring to me. At least the part is readily available and cheap.

Be prepared to spend about a whopping $0.63!!!

A handy hint in case you didnt think of it, use 2 pairs of vise grip pliers to gently crimp the hoses so the coolant stays where it should!

So my tintop had this happen too, and I posted a thread about the subsequent issue of cleaning up the sweet slickness of coolant spilled into the floor, and soaked up by the underlayment panels/boards. They're like compressed or chipboard with rubber backing. And now mine are saturated w/ coolant, and I've laid them in the sun for several days, still when squeeze the edge a little, it just squishes out the slick stuff.

Anybody know a good way to clean and dry these boards/panels out? They're No longer available from any vendor I've found .

With the floor still in the van I loosened the boards and wedged silica gel packs under them. Then I ran a space heater in there for a couple of days. Seemed to do the trick.

I tried washing mine but had to throw it out due to squirrel nestings in the parked van back in WA. I put in a floating laminate floor and took out the rear heater (sstored it for next owner if wants)
