Yes we have taken that into consideration. The layout for the BUG-IN will be very different from a Drag Day. I will be uploading a map with the complete layout in the next day or so. _________________ Andy Kimball

Schley Brothers Reunion at Bug-In 37
One of the highlights of the Up-coming FLAT-4 BUG-IN 37, being held at the Irwindale Speedway on April 29th, will be the reunion of the Schley Brothers Lightning Bugs. These three legendary VW race cars were campaigned by Mark and Paul at dragstrips across the country from 1965 through 1975 . . . but they have never been seen all together until now.
Mark crashed the Oval Window at Bug-In 3, at O.C.I.R. in October 1969. It was wadded up pretty good. The “Chop-top” was built from scratch and raced for three years or so before being sold to Puerto Rican enthusiast, Diego Febles, where re-painted bright yellow it raced locally for many years. In 1973 the Schley Brothers built the Lightning Bug Dragster and raced it until late 1975, when it was also sold.
Now, 37 years later, Scottish collector/racer, Russell Ritchie, has restored an exact replica of the original Lightning Bug and shipped it over for the Bug-In. It has been on display at the NHRA Museum for the last month. In the past couple years Mark and Paul have re-acquired both the “Chop-Top and the Dragster and have done full restorations on both cars. On April 29th at the Bug-In all three of these VW racecar legends will make their public debut, all together for the first time.

Car show classes......Vintage and Custom.
I don't know many water-cooled cars that would qualify for "Vintage"...?
How about "stock" or "custom" _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

Is 7:00 am the time for the car show people to get there as well?
I have not been to Irwindale before, do we need to get there early so we can for sure get in or is there plenty of space?
Thanks for the help.
Be Great! |

| I was actually disappointed in the outlaw turbo cars. Wasn't a very big turnout on those cars and seemed the track had problems all day in that in and out lane. Wish paradise and eric came out was really looking forward to those boys coming out did any one else feel that the drag racing was last minute and track was poorly prepared? |

Have to agree ... timing equipment was all over the map. I'm guessing the big boy Outlaw cars are chasing the "other" race meets. Good to see Roger Crawford and a few of the regulars. The facility was stuffed with most of the available parking taken. Hope Fontana can work out something with the local residents. _________________ Get ready for the injection

The turn out was awesome! Great swap meet, loads of cars to see. The staff did a great job organizing and keeping everything going. The track was still a little virgin and couldn't hold the power of the big boys........But, Roger Crawford's Ghia was incredibly fast. _________________ This is my 21st year in the Auto Body/Paint Game!

It was a good show the only problem I had it with the way we could vote for the show cars. I registered my car as a custom so I was only allowed to vote for customs. I wasn't allowed to vote for stock cars.
Just because I have a custom car doesn't mean I can't appreciate a stock vw.
Other then that I had fun.
