Don't forget that Bus Depot, the last I knew, was offering a 'Confirmed Samba Participant' discount if you PM'ed 'BusDepot' and he could confirm that you were a serious participant. I hope he's still doing that, 'cause I do business with him, also, and appreciate him and Van Cafe for also supporting the Vanagon community. |
Yes, we are still the only major supplier to offer a Samba discount to active contributors. PM me to confirm that you qualify and get the code. The discount is 5%, ongoing, on most orders over $50 with certain exclusions (most notably sale or speclal-order items, engines/transmissions, tires/wheels). The idea is that it largely offsets your shipping cost so your Bus Depot order is shipped free or almost-free.
We actually had a flurry of sales on the 29th ourselves, as many customers comparison shopped and discovered that our delivered price at 5% off was still lower than GoWesty's at 15% off, since our everyday prices are typically lower to begin with. What's more we don't collect sales tax except to Pennsylvania residents. (Disclaimer: In some states residents are supposed to voluntarily pay tax on their internet purchases. Check local laws.) _________________ - Ron Salmon

I should add that for those who are planning a big-ticket order, the discount goes up to 10% on a purchase of $1200 or more ... also ongoing. _________________ - Ron Salmon

Bus Depot does usually have the best prices. Be prepared to wait though, as a lot of items are not stocked. My complaint is not the stocking, but that the web site does not indicate stock status. _________________ 1986 Vanagon Westfalia EJ25

As was the case for me with exhaust parts - shipping from Cali nixed the deal (I'm on the East coat). I noted my observation on the LiMBO Facebook page.
Now I just have to figure out all that I need for this job first. _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

Wish I was aware of these discounts when I bought the couple grand worth of stuff over the past year. The few things I got are not available at BD.

They often have a president's day sale.
I doubt they'd have both though.. so keep yer eyes peeled.
