Complete article and directions
"Google changes to its new privacy policy that allows it to gather, store and use personal information, users have a last chance to delete their Google Browsing History, along with any damning information therein.
Tech News Daily reports that once Google's new unified privacy policy takes effect all data already collected about you, including search queries, sites visited, age, gender and location will be gathered and assigned to your online identity represented by your Gmail and YouTube accounts. After the policy takes effect you are not allowed to opt out without abandoning Google altogether. But now before the policy takes effect, you have the option of deleting your Google Web History by modifying your settings so that Google is unable to associate data collected about you with your Gmail or YouTube accounts"...

if this hadn't been all over the news for the past couple weeks, and if a little pop-up window would not have appeared every time you did a google search notifying you of this change, this might be and interesting post. instead, it is about 2 weeks late and about $50 short. _________________ thebucket: I invested in hoodride, now DBD won't return my call?

The instructions say to log into your Google "account". I guess I don't know much about Google. I use Google all the time to search for things but I've never created an account. What does creating an account get you? _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

I agree... I had the same problem when I clicked on the pop-up box to find out more. Looks like google has fallen to the "obfuscate and you will get things people don't want you to have" theory of marketing. Sad.
I could not find out how to opt out and clear things. Just like they planned. |

That'll only show up if you have something like Gmail or a YouTube account. If you don't I'm not sure how you could block Google Search History.
I followed the steps in the link at the top.... but then again I'm known to get tinfoil hat weird _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

I'm surprised Google enabled users to opt for blocking of search history. It seems to me that being able to track brewing terrorist plots is a major reason to monitor search histories (putting aside issues of rights to privacy for a moment). I think it very unlikely that the Feds would let Google give up that source of information. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

BTW... your ISP tracks everything. Every website, every search, even if you use a proxy.
If you don't want to be tracked... get off the internet, get rid of your credit card and don't drive a car. _________________ Glenn

Google bastards also cheat in another way... I tried to log in and change settings, but it refuses, saying my web browser isn't supported, and to "upgrade" to Google Chrome. Haven't these guys heard of Microsoft Internet Explorer?
