if you don't want elm green, but a lighter shade, it is now a custom mix. no one on the planet could guess that forumula. go to a paint shop and hit the books for a green you like. they should have books with color chips

you have looked here, right?

Under the same name... Or so it appears in the photos. If it is true my question would be how to get the mixture for the lighter shade.

You can't trust 40 year old printed color chips. Elm green is elm green. If you don't like the color you are after a custom mix. No one will be able to help you on the internet with a code. I don't know what to tell you. Get the paint mixed to the factory color and pour in some white to lighten it up

do you you think the colors might end up looking different depending on the brand you get?

Yes! You pick the shade and you live with it. Remember light colors look better than dark colors IMO, so keep it light.

If you go code for code between different paint it should be pretty close. It all depends how good the guy mixing it is and how accurate his equipment is. I agree with fisher....pick a color and run with it

so sweet. I took the gas flap to the ppg supplier around here and they matched the color with that wierd picture machine and supposedly a little mixing.

it came out to "conifer green" which is supposed to be a porsche color. and after looking it up out of sheer curiosity ive only seen it on triumphs..... please dont try bashing on me. but are triumphs porsches? and and btw i think im in love and know what my next car will be haha Embarassed

oh and i'll post pics whenever i get my car so people have more color reference.... here on the samba.

regardless the color is as perfect as its going to get and im sorry for the song post im just happy and done with this. my only regret is not having done this since the begining. you live, you learn i suppose.

i agree. i enjoy those pastel colors the earlier years have. but i enjoy them on the earlier cars. the colors just go great with it all. i wanted a deep rich color for mine not dark but rich. after seeing the sample i hope i'm picturing it right in my head...
