|
|
Last weekend while out driving, it registered in my brain that my foot wasn't traveling very far between idle and pedal to the floor... Really only 2-3 inches...I looked at the carb linkage, doesn't seem like the cable slipped? I had someone stand with the pedal all the way to the floor and sure enough, at full pedal there is another 50% of throw left on the butterfly... May explain some lack of power.
How far does your gas pedal travel overall from Idle to floored? And does the butterfly on yours open all the way? Before I go adjust the cable (aint broke=dont fix it) I figured I'd ask! _________________ Click to view image |

Well a tiny little roller behind the pedal is stock.
A roller that looks like a walmart skateboard wheel is not stock.
I've NEVER seen a roller pedal give you full throttle right out of the box.
You need to drill a new hole for the cable end about an inch higher than the existing one.
You will also need to bend up the end of the tube that lives in the tunnel what the cable goes through. Otherwise the cable will chafe on the edge of the tube and wear through very quickly. _________________ --- The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.

Uber cleared that up for me... it's just a small roller, so probably stock- I misspoke. Nothing blocking it, it just seems like a really short throw on the pedal to me- guess I'm just used to other pedal assemblies?
I will still get in and verify that the cable is aligned properly. I read a few old posts about the passthrough in the engine bay being moved out of place- I'll also make sure it's inline there!
Thanks for the suggestions! _________________ Click to view image |

Once you confirm that the lever (with the little roller) which is connected to the throttle cable is installed and moving correctly, the best way to adjust the throttle cable is with two people.
Have your assistant hold the peddle floored while you adjust the connection at the carburetor barrel clamp so that the throttle plate is vertical.
Good luck, Mondshine |

Make sure that you understand what you were being told. The pedal arm sits in a slot in the pedal cluster. There are stops in the slot that correspond to little tabs on the pedal arm. You get debris and crud in the slot an your pedal movement is reduced dramtically. Had that on one of the cars - pulled out the assembly, scraped the crud out and then freshened the entire assy while it was out (cleaning, paint, grease) and it was a world of difference. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1776.
