So heres a few pics because I'm still a little unsure what year rear end I have. I was thinking '67ish but I could be wrong. I found out the backing plate on the one side was rusted through so I figure if I'm going to fix the brakes I might as well just do the swap to disc!
So I need help clarifying the year, I believe its a swing axle as its not IRS. And I'm wondering where all you guys for the conversion kits. Best prices I've seen are from actionimports.com. Just curious if thats the best place to go since any auto parts store around me is 2x the prices I see on their website.
Thanks guys I appreciate all the input and help you guys can provide me. I'm trying to learn about these things so I can start figuring out the routes I want to take down the road. |

Definitely swing axle, make sure the brake kit you get works with the outboard set up you have.

Ok well there's where I run into the problem. I'm trying to buy these online because the price difference is so big. I mean if its going to be a huge pain ill just get a new backing plate and rotate the drums.

Imo, with a vehicle as light as that, and still running drums up front, the cost and trouble of getting discs in just the rear, and having to use a adjustable porportioning. To adjust balance just isnt worth it. Bling factor yes, already disc up front yes. In your situation i would say new backing plate, rebuild kits, and adjust all 4 properly.

Well there aren't brakes of any sort up front. I just thought if I could get away with swapping to disc for around $300 I would go ahead and do it. But at this rate it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Well then, cb performance, roto hub kit, with parking brake or not, about 320. Just need to figure out if your short or long swing. Figure about another 40 bucks in harware.
