Please help,
I am ready to paint my bus L53 sir and L73 chestnut brown.
Would like to go with an acrylic enamel like centari. Does anyone out there have the formulas for me?
I do not have a booth and have used this paint in DuPont or PPG bedsore so am comfortable if I make a mistake can color sand and buff.
If you can help with today's formulas or know someone I can call that has this info please let me know.

This isn't QUITE the answer you're looking for but I do have some professional advice coming from years and years of enamel experience... I prefer PPG Delstar when using enamel. I've sprayed plenty of VWs with enamels, among many other paints. I am now fighting a 68 Triumph TR250 at work that I just painted with DuPont Centari and it's suffering from horrid results. Trust me, I'm not a novice and can say that I'll never use that Centari again. Usually buffing is a must with enamels but dang, PPG lays out well, especially compared to DuPont.
Then just three nights ago I painted some old Chevy truck parts in PPG Concept ss urethane- flat as glass with 885 reducer............ A few extra bucks is all you need to make a much more worthy job.
Now to answer your question- the folks with the formulas are the paint stores that sell the paints you want. Just give them the code. Cross referencing against other makes (especially Glasurit) may be in order of they can't find a formula in the PPG or DuPont records. Any hard working paint store employee will earn their keep by doing this homework for you. _________________ The best things in life aren't Things

Can I spray the concept ss urethane with an 18 gun and no booth? Can you color sand it if I get orange peel etc?
Thanks for your input... |

PPG codes in the Technical area of the site:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/colorstype2.php
go to the end of the list for ppg
I just had swr mixed in concept yesterday, my jobber had the ppg no. but not the concept so he matched it to an og paint hatch I have. He said he'd put the formula in the national formula acrhive, whatever that is. _________________ Collect the whole set! |

Concept is a much better paint but harder to polish. Enamel is easy stuff, I recommend if you've only painted a time or two and will be painting in less than favorable conditions to keep with Delstar. BTW enamel is mighty smelly for a long time! _________________ The best things in life aren't Things

Preparation goes a long way! If it were me, I would at least build a temporary booth out of plastic sheeting, and I would also get the right size tip for your gun....1.8 is too big! 1.3 to 1.4 is much, much better.
BTW...code for swr in DCC(Concept) is 71025. _________________ _________________________
