ive got a original gear shifter. when installing what side does the little bump on the bottom ball of the shifter's side go on. or one of the (2) bolt slots has a point on it, does that go towards the front or rear of the car.

Type "VW shifter plate" into yahoo images and this image is the first hit. Lots of other great shifter info with the images there.
