Let just say my wife is not totally happy with the direction this car has gone. She thought it was going to be a little "cutie" car. Not that there is anything wrong with that but obviously I had other ideas. Its not far from stock. I can go back. BUT WHY.
Anyway in order to bring her back to the same thought process as me, I need her to see what the finished project is going to look like.
If anyone has mad Photoshop skills will you take this photo of the car and change the Brown primer to Green and then again to the orange. I will let her decide but your comments are greatly appreciated. ALL (good/bad/ugly). I am a grown man and can take it.

Ditto on the green. Looks good
But more importantly,......which one does the spousal unit prefer? _________________ 74 VW Thing - Walküre

It still doesn't fit my definition of a "cutie" car with that setup. Of course, my standards are probably far different from your wife's, so that is irrelevant anyway...
You really can't go wrong either way. The Clemson man in me says orange, but I'd probably still have to vote for the green. It's somewhat more subtle, but stands out just the same.
Keep that Thing's body as straight as possible while you're playing offroad. |

The problem with black is that every time you drop something it disappears into the darkness. It's like a black hole sometimes. It's worse than socks in the dryer. Another reason I want to go khaki or desert tan. _________________ 74 VW Thing - Walküre

Well, with black body, black seats, black floor mats, ect you need a flashlight in broad daylight if something fell under the seat. Glad I have the tan coco mats _________________ 74 VW Thing - Walküre

| I was planning on going matte black inside and out for my Thing. That is, until I bought another (non Thing) which had a black interior. The interior looks like a black hole at night. You can't see anything in there. Good luck finding a dropped ignition key except by feel. And, the exterior seems to be a magnet for bad drivers at night. They just can't see the car. While the Thing should look "mean" in triple matte black, I'm backing away from that color scheme. |

Mondshine- You are awesome. It took my wife a while to recognize that this was actually our car. Then I told her about Photoshop.
I read her all of your comments and she agreed the Green was the way to go. She is reinvigorated as to the route I went with the car. I plan on having tubular running boards (Nerf Bars) made to help her get in and out.
As for the interior. I will take pictures later today when I put the doors back on. We took it to the beach and had breakfast sans door. Its a bit freaky looking out and seeing the ground.
I run bed armor on the floor and simi gloss black on the doors down to the to the pan. I have no issue with loosing anything in the black. The only issue is I had to drill drainage holes because the bed armor made it a pool. Otherwise I love it. |

I really like the look of the TTS nerf bar, but they jut out an inch or two further than the fender. They become the widest point on the car. That might not be a big deal to others, but I've squeezed my Thing into spaces that would not have been possible with that extra width.
Looking at your car photos, I suspect that'd be fine - it looks like your wheels already jut out that far. _________________ VW-181 shirts and stickers.
