|
|
Hi folks,
I need a place to park the V-gon and camp for a night near the State Capitol in Sacramento. It has to be within a mile or so as I am riding the CT-70 to an assembly hearing and don't like going too far on that bike. Any ideas? Stealth camping ok, even Walmart lots.
Thanks! |

I made a run up to Arco Arena 3 years ago. The Walmart by Arco does not allow over night stays.
I was driving around the capital and it seems that most of it is controlled parking and some parts are kinda rough. One mile is not that far. _________________

I guess no Wally marts near the capitol? Seems like most of them are pretty cool about overnights as they sell their RV stuff to the peeps. |

Some good parking garages in those parts. Maybe on the roof? |

If I could get inside one...my Syncro Westy with big tires, rack, etc. is about eight feet tall.
Anything you guys want me to tell the legislature while I'm there?
Wait a minute, I didn't ask that. |

Look for a hotel/motel parking lot to stealth camp. You can usually get away with it if you pull in at night and not draw attention to yourself. Just a sleeping spot. _________________ 89 Westy 2.1 Auto |

housing tract--walmart is intolerant because their drivers wore that out years ago.
a parking lot has no cover- you could also hang a banner on the side for some prescoped out shop like it was their advan and just show up after closing. no problem. then you just have a banner to roll up. |

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I'll be taking Amtrak, oh well. No real places to camp in Sacto City or County except one county park near Antioch, and of course the depressing RV parks. |

Islemouth Slough Campground on Hwy 2 - west of I-5. About 45 minutes from Sacramento. |

Californio,
What did you end up doing to haul your CT-70? I found your posts from last year asking about a front-bumper mount for the CT-70, but didn't see your final solution. I'm looking to do the same. _________________ _____________________

Hey there,
Sorry so long in responding. I mounted it with a trailer hitch receiver on the front frame, and then use a lift called a moto-jack. Pmail me for pictures. It works great...and the van handles like a '62 Cadillac...
If I can figure out how to post pics here, I'll try to do a write up. |

Thanks for replying. I think if I get a hitch receiver mount, I'll get a bigger (but not much heavier) bike. I like how the GoWesty van has the CT70 mounted directly on top of the bumper almost touching the windshield. That would not impact ground clearance and minimize the cantilever effect on the handling.
THanks again. _________________ _____________________
