I'm planning to be there. The plan is to leave Sacramento on Wednesday and camp somewhere around Tehachapi on Wednesday night, and roll in on Thursday.
If anybody wants to split a campsite with me on Wednesday night and save a few bux, please PM me. Otherwise, I may just truck-stop it.
Drive safe, and I'll see y'all there! _________________ -- JLT

I may not be making it this time!
Would be only the second time missing out in 15 years!
Anyway, buying a house and with all that entails as well as the dreaded move, maybe I should take them days for it. Though BBB is still a few weeks away, I may just take the "break" and just go! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

I guess I should add that if the weather's foul, I'll be bringing the Tent of Doom (a 15' x 20' sunshade/rainshade) so people can hang out without getting too wet. If it can't be set up on the grass for space reasons, I'll have it on the perimeter, and bring a firepit as well. _________________ -- JLT

you better go or I'm gonna freeze congrats on the house. Delay your closing.
I reserved the last Host Motel room at Teh Motel 6, and from the sound of it, maybe one of the last in Havafew City.
Also, i my be Bringing my boy with me and a built in babysitter, his grandmother who has friends to visit as well.
I'll be ready with tent and sleeping bags as well as I hate to not have the option of camping at the best VW camp out of the year.

hi kind folks:)
So I have not been using this forum much, I mostly let the hubby stay in-charge of all VW matters....
First let me say, We are BOTH very excited about this event. Especially as it is going to be our first major event on this side of the country...
some of you know us from our travels, and some of you have been following our adventures here on the samba. in any case, if you are coming to this event, please come find us to say hello!!! we love meeting new people, and are looking forward to meeting you!
But I'm trying to plan out this Buses on the bridge thing and I have some UN-answered questions...
we are coming down in our Lucy, so we wont need a tent or a hotel:) Lucy is our home:) Do we need to sign up for a site at the campground?
How much is the weekend event? registration?
we are coming from San-Diego CA, is there anyone coming from our city who would like to caravan with us, or can we join an existing caravan, that will be getting there for Thursday? we want to get there nice and early??
Thanks for any reply, you are welcome to post or pm me anytime...
Its been a rough few months for us and we are both looking forward to getting back on the road, if only for the weekend:) _________________ lucy our westy

Mrs. Rubbachicken,
missed you at Syncro Solstice last year, it will be good to meet you guys finally.
Great info on the Buses by the Bridge Fakebook page, but.....
40 dollars if you show up Thursday
30 dollars if you show up Friday
20 dollars if you show up Saturday
$2 per head for walk ins
I am hotelling it this year with a tent back up as I have to be back to PDX for work on Tuesday, but, it will be good to hang out with you. There are vanagons galore. Some at the WetWesties camp (also on FB-like their page for updates) and many others. Once you get there, you will get it. It is an awesome event.

After you pay, you drive in and park wherever your heart & van desires; there are no sites, per se. Most of the Vanagons at BBB 2012 were along the canal and along both sides of the path along the beach and grass (beach is off-limits in 2013).
The Dice Run is Thursday afternoon/evening; if you'd like to participate, don't get your camp completely set up.
I plan to be in the vicinity on Wednesday, so I can be in the long line at the gate, promptly at noon.

Hmm, yeah... forgot the bold part: "...at the gate on Thursday, promptly at noon".
I was going to stay down-river of LHC a couple of months ago, but pulling in it at dusk (after a long drive from NV) I read a sign: "$25/night... BTW, no running water due to repairs". Would've stayed but paying $25 just for a dirt parking spot was out of the question so I motored on (seriously, the state couldn't discount the fee for a month? ). So, might try again en route to BBB so I can kayak the lower end of the lake. Hence, "in the vicinity on Wednesday". _________________ ~Kamz

I wasn't there last year but will be this year!
I was looking at the panoramic photo from last year, there were quite a few RVs toward the back. Was that a problem? _________________ Rob

We have a designated RV parking area for BBB, this is a lined off organized parking for RV's, 5th wheels, etc.
We set the event area up on Thursday morning, as soon as we are done people will be allowed in to get there spots.
The grass area has been renamed to the recreation area and is reserved as a safe area for kids to play and hang out and for event activities.
If you don't like kids, games and other activities that will be going on there all weekend, we suggest you don't camp along that area.
State parks has continued to beautify the event area and create more group camping areas, if you have a large group ask one of the LBB members to help find you a large area for your group.

I know most of you are going out earlier in the week, but is anyone else leaving Thursday evening or Friday morning from Orange County?
If so, West Coast Bays wants to organize a Caravan. The plan would be to leave Thursday night around 8pm or Friday morning around 4am. (which every the majority prefers)
Shoot me an email and let me know if you're at all interested. [email protected]
Thanks guys, can't wait. This will be my first BBB experience! _________________ Andy Kimball
