How wide of tires can i safely run on a 5.5 in wide rim i thought i read 205 somewhere but on the its self its stamped 265.. i think its kinda hard to make out.
and
I have a couple tire combo questions i have empi 8 spoke that are 15 by 5.5 that are going on a lowered super beetle... how wide of tire can i run without going to a widened fender? i dont want the tires to tuck up inside the fender so thats not an issue... same up front
The bug is going to be pushing 160-180 hp and i wanna do road racing and hill climb type events so traction is a must |

Thank for the people who put some thought into this, but i went out this morning and mounted the rims and stuff up to the car and took some measurements and i think i've answered my questions.

I'm running 215/65's on my 5.5" Sprintstars, but that's kind of pushing the size limit for that width of wheel...a 6" wheel would probably be better. So, I would probably stop at 205's next time. I have 180 HP to the wheels.
