I have the opportunity to buy a used 914/11 transmission for cheap. I have a 1915 engine and was wondering if the gears would be a good fit for my car.
R&P 7:31
1st A 11:34 (3.091)
2nd F 18:34 (1.889)
3rd N 23:29 (1.261)
4th V 27:25 (0.9259)
5th ZD 31:22 (0.7097)
Its a type one engine in a speedster replica car.
Thanks in advance for the help. |

I cannot comment much on how well the gearing works.
You probably already know all of this but I have heard that its quite a task to go from 914 to beetle. You have to basically turn it into a 911 trans first. This involves installing a 911 nose cone and hockey stick and then swapping the ring and pinon so that it runs in the forward direction and then of course you have to convert the beetle to accept the trans. _________________ Athens Euroworks

Gears would be perfect - the 914 was 1700-2000 cc so you're in same ball park. It takes a T2 flywheel or a custom one and a AT starter too. Plus some cutting of the rear suspension and a new 5spd shifter. Make sure its a tail shifter '73 and back as they are easier to convert than the later side shifters. _________________ CMC '57 Porsche Speedster Replica and Dolphin boat tailed full pan VW T-Bucket Street Buggy |
