|
|
I just pulled this sweet Oct of '63 Single Cab home yesterday. I had to sell my '67 Standard project to be able to get this truck but it was worth it. It had been advertised in the local car classified for a couple month's and finally decided to go look at it the other day. The paint is only about a year old. I wish they would have gone all blue instead of the two tone, but it is what it is. Seat covers are custom but they are brand new. This is my first bus with Safari's and now I see what all the hype is about, these things are awesome. All that is really left to do to get it daily driver ready is finish installing the wipers, chase down some little electrical gremlins, and throw the new kick panels in. It also came with the hoops for the tilt, but no bows or canvas. I need to get some bumper over riders figured out too. They had to do a bunch of metal work to it and used smooth metal floor the treasure chest floor but everything else looks alright. This won't be a show bus, but it will be one awesome driver. I forgot to mention that I already had a built 1776 with dual Weber 40's on order from Air Cooled Engineering order for the '67 that will go in here.

| I got it titled and registered this morning and put about 25 miles on it so far. This thing drives awesome. I forgot to list that the tranny was rebuilt recently and all of the body / window rubber is new. Aside from the Safari seals, this thing seals up great. |

I'm not sure why they used the flat metal for the floor. It looks like they did a decent job so I can't complain. The next time I'm in the area I where I got it from I want to stop in at the body shop that did the work and ask them about it. I also want to ask them if they know anything about the M code plate that never got put back on after the did some metal work on the back of the cab. Luckily its been registered in the Vintagebus registry a couple of times so I know what the M-Codes are from that. _________________ '64 Single Cab-----

Adjust your brake stars. Then adjust the parking/E brake for five clicks.
Good to see another one on the road!!! _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Tyler,
You suck. Call me when you want to sell it. You go through cars like I go through underwear.
Nice score. Did Dave give up on the flipseat? _________________ Looking for SO-42 fridge parts Please check my wanted ad:

I'm not sure if that means you need to buy more underwear or I need to buy less cars. If you put a stack of Benjamins and that SO-42 of yours on the table we may be able to talk about selling it.
Yeah, Dave kind of gave up on the flipseat. He got the '67 Standard back from me and the flipseat is coming to my garage. I just got back from Reno a couple of hours ago where I went on a mission to pick up an interior for it. _________________ '64 Single Cab-----

I spent a little time on the truck tonight. I got some new tires to replace the bug tires. I went with 215/75R15 BF Goodrich All Terrains. These tires look badass on the truck and the steering is so much lighter.
I also put in a new battery because the old one died. I still have a faint glow of the generator idiot light that I need to investigate later.
Finally, I removed the "Old Guys Rule" license plate frame from the rear. I don't think I'll need that for another 25 years or so.

Nice truck, is that the one in the Camera adds I've been watching for a while? Don't know if I know you, but I am in Bakersfield. I have a 68 CB and a 64 DC. I'm restoring the DC now and need some parts, like drivers door and rear gate. If you have or know of any please call me.

Yeah, that was the one in the camera ads. That thing was in there forever, so I figured if no one else was going to buy it I may as well.
I haven't really met very many VW people since I moved to Bakersfield so I probably haven't met you. It doesn't seem like there is much of a scene here, maybe I'm just missing it.
Does your DC have ice pick doors or push button doors? I may have an extra ice pick door. _________________ '64 Single Cab-----
